They power the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/drivers-passengers-getting-sick-electric-vehicles-doctor-confirms-real-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric vehicles<\/a> the left loves.<\/p>\n<p>Lithium isn\u2019t the easiest resource to get a hold of either. While it\u2019s far from rare, there is still a limited supply and as that begins to dry up, prices will increase and the ability to achieve the battery-reliant utopia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-dana-white-takes-shot-liberal-netflix-roast-tom-brady\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">liberals<\/a> yearn for will become more impossible to achieve.<\/p>\n<p>But luckily for these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/americas-governor-desantis-promotes-new-energy-legislation-will-trigger-every-green-zealot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">green energy zealots<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-dropped-un-human-rights-council-because-of-countries-like-russia-biden-rejoined-it-anyway\/\" title=\"Trump Dropped UN Human Rights Council Because of Countries Like Russia; Biden Rejoined It Anyway\">massive source<\/a> of the metal has been found within the American homeland.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for them though, it\u2019s found within their worst nightmares: Fracking, the practice of using water to extract natural gas and oil.<\/p>\n<p>More specifically, a new report from the Department of Energy\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41598-024-58887-x\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Energy Technology Laboratory<\/a> has found that the wastewater generated from fracking in the Marcellus Shale \u2014 a geological formation beneath much of the Appalachian Mountains \u2014 contains a notable amount of lithium, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/wvpublic.org\/appalachian-fracking-water-contains-lots-of-lithium-report-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Virginia Public Broadcasting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe laboratory concludes that Pennsylvania\u2019s shale wells alone could provide as much as 40 percent of the nation\u2019s lithium supply,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you agree with fracking?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe drilling boom in Appalachia created large volumes of produced water that is considered a waste,\u201d Justin Mackey, the project\u2019s lead investigator Justin Mackey, told West Virginia Public Radio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe found that this fluid is significantly enriched with lithium compared to produced water from other shale formations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the rise of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/homeowner-says-not-buy-evs-mercedes-ev-loaner-burns-crisp-taking-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric vehicles<\/a> and other green solutions, the demand for lithium has never been higher.<\/p>\n<p>However, now the tree-huggers of America are posed with a moral dilemma.<\/p>\n<p>Fracking is banned in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ny-lawmaker-apologizes-to-new-england-for-cuomos-failed-energy-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Democratic-run New York state<\/a>.\u00a0And <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/crenshaw-slams-sanders-green-new-deal-support-3rd-grade-science-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Green New Deal<\/a> radicals like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sanders.senate.gov\/press-releases\/sanders-ocasio-cortez-lead-first-ever-bill-to-ban-fracking-nationwide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support a ban<\/a> on it at the national level.<\/p>\n<p>Now, leftists are faced with a reason to support fracking so they can get the lithium needed to achieve the supposed clean world they advocate for, or turn down loads of the material.<\/p>\n<p>After so many years of vilifying the practice to no end, a sudden endorsement of it would undoubtedly be a terrible look for the movement (though radical environmentalists hardly have a good look to begin with).<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the new information could be the perfect opportunity for these zealots to admit fracking isn\u2019t the worst thing in the world and instead is simply one of many methods to obtain oil and gas.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, expecting liberals to admit they\u2019re wrong is a pipe dream but who knows?
