The fertility rate is the number of children a woman is expected to have over her lifetime, on average.<\/p>\n<p>Just 230,000 babies were born last year in the country, which has a population of 50 million.<\/p>\n<p>Other Asian countries face similar issues. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-denigrates-us-ally-japan-xenophobic-supposed-honoring-asian-americans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Japan<\/a> had a record-low fertility rate of 1.26 in 2022 and had only 758,631 births in 2023, the lowest total since 1899, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.lsa.umich.edu\/mje\/2024\/04\/10\/the-socioeconomics-of-japanese-birth-decline\/#:~:text=In%20addition%2C%20during%202023%2C%20the,of%20the%20global%20fertility%20crisis.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan Journal of Economics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Can declining national birth rates be reversed?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Different issues are at play in these countries, and no simple solution presents itself.<\/p>\n<p>South Korea has spent more than $200 billion over the past 16 years to address the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/californias-population-shrinks-for-the-first-time-ever-in-2020\/\" title=\"California\u2019s Population Shrinks For The First Time Ever In 2020\">declining birth rate<\/a> with no success. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/09\/asia\/south-korea-government-population-birth-rate-intl-hnk\/index.html#:~:text=South%20Korea%20has%20the%20world%27s,long%20string%20of%20yearly%20declines.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Initiatives<\/a> have included extended paid paternity leave, social campaigns encouraging male participation in child care and housework, and even \u201cbaby vouchers\u201d that offer monetary incentives.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\ud83c\uddf0\ud83c\uddf7 South Korea birth rate<\/p>\n<p>2023: 0.72<br \/> 2022: 0.78<br \/> 2020: 0.84<br \/> 2017: 1.05<br \/> 2010: 1.23<br \/> 2000: 1.48<\/p>\n<p>Note: the rate of 2.1 per woman needed for a steady population<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 World of Statistics (@stats_feed) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/stats_feed\/status\/1763043919456043106?\">February 29, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Declining birth rates are a problem across much of the Western world.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-now-says-it-will-allow-families-to-have-three-children-amid-fears-of-population-crash\/\" title=\"China Now Says It Will Allow Families To Have Three Children Amid Fears Of Population Crash\">total fertility rate<\/a> across the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=Fertility_statistics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Union<\/a> was just 1.46 live births per woman, ranging from 1.08 in Malta to 1.79 in France.<\/p>\n<p>The United States has observed a consistent yearly decline since 2014, especially among women ages 20 to 39, and hit a historic low of 1.62 in 2023, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/pressroom\/nchs_press_releases\/2024\/20240525.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What is happening in South Korea may very well be the future of America.<\/p>\n<p>Heartbreakingly, while the birth rate sees continual declines, abortions have been on the rise.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.guttmacher.org\/2024\/03\/despite-bans-number-abortions-united-states-increased-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Guttmacher Institute<\/a> reported that despite new legislation restricting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/women-found-loophole-get-abortions-despite-state-bans-numbers-getting-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">abortion<\/a> in 2023, the number of unborn babies killed by the practice still managed to reach a decade-high of 1,037,000.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to abortion, the left\u2019s promotion of the LGBT lifestyle also undoubtedly worsens the U.S. birth rate.<\/p>\n<p>While the United States is far from being at the crisis level of South Korea, the writing is on the wall.<\/p>\n<p>Sooner or later, this issue will be at America\u2019s doorstep.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders can wait until it\u2019s a crisis and drastic measures need to be taken, or they can begin to take steps to ensure the American population is here to stay.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
