The incident is under internal review, and the Mayor stated there is no \u200dvideo of the initial interaction. Officers are required to have their bodycams active at all\u200b times.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The Louisville police officer who arrested the world\u2019s top golfer, Scottie Scheffler, late last week did not have his bodycam recorder turned on during the incident.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/40174105\/louisville-pd-confirms-no-body-cam-video-scheffler-arrest\">reported<\/a> that a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed reports that the officer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/must-be-dismantled-ben-jerrys-attacks-americas-police-system\/\" title=\"\u2018Must Be Dismantled\u2019: Ben &#038; Jerry\u2019s Attacks America\u2019s Police System\">body-worn camera<\/a> (BWC) was not activated even though the department\u2019s procedures mandate officers \u201cmaintain their BWC in a constant state of operational readiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no body-worn camera footage of the initial encounter,\u201d the spokesman told the publication. \u201cThe incident is under review internally and will proceed through the judicial process. We would like to restate that all parties involved are fully cooperating. LMPD is committed to a thorough investigation for all involved.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg <a href=\"https:\/\/www.courier-journal.com\/story\/news\/local\/2024\/05\/18\/scottie-scheffler-arrest-louisville-mayor-says-no-body-cam-of-incident\/73748175007\/\">told<\/a> the Courier-Journal that the officer \u201cdid not have body cam footage turned on during the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will release footage that we have \u2026 to my knowledge, we have not yet discovered any video of the initial contact between Officer [Bryan] Gillis and Mr. Scheffler,\u201d Greenberg added.<\/p>\n<p>Officers are \u201cmandated\u201d to \u201cimmediately activate their BWC in recording mode prior to engaging in all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anti-racists-behind-school-enemies-list-now-gathering-info-on-children-as-top-prosecutor-joins-in\/\" title=\"\u2018Anti-Racists\u2019 Behind School Enemies List Now Gathering Info On Children As Top Prosecutor Joins In\">law enforcement activities<\/a> or encounters,\u201d according to department policies.<\/p>\n<p>Department policy states that bodycams are to be activated \u201cto record all calls for service and law enforcement activities\/encounters (e.g. arrests, citations, stops, pursuits, Code 3 operations\/responses, searches, seizures, interviews, identifications, use of force incidents, collisions, transports, warrants, official conversations on departmental smartphones, etc.).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler was arrested in what he and his attorney said was a misunderstanding between the officer and Scheffler.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>He was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portland-charges-suspected-antifa-members-for-riot-that-damaged-democratic-party-headquarters\/\" title=\"Portland Charges Suspected Antifa Members For Riot That Damaged Democratic Party Headquarters\">-degree criminal mischief<\/a>, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic, according to a court document. The second<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/colo-gun-regulation-bills-slated-to-become-law\/\" title=\"Colo. gun regulation bills slated to become law\">-degree assault charge<\/a> is a felony, while the others are misdemeanors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cScottie was advised to go around and turn left into the facility to come and do his pre-round preparation. The officer who charged him obviously didn\u2019t know that,\u201d said Steve Romines, Scheffler\u2019s lawyer. \u201cAnd so, he did what he was instructed to do. And the arresting officer didn\u2019t think he was supposed to be doing that. And so that\u2019s where the miscommunication occurred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romines noted that Scheffler was in a marked courtesy vehicle with his credentials visible when he drove up to the facility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got to talk to prosecutors,\u201d he said. \u201c[The charges will] either be dropped or we\u2019ll go to trial because he didn\u2019t do anything wrong. So we\u2019re not interested in any sort of settlement negotiations or anything like that. He didn\u2019t do anything wrong.
