Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 18, 2024 at 6:45am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>When Jewish pro-Israel protester Paul Kessler died during a skirmish last month in the Los Angeles suburb of Thousand Oaks, California, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-week-in-campus-insanity-vol-29\/\" title=\"This Week In Campus Insanity Vol. 29\">college professor<\/a> and pro-Hamas protester Loay Alnaji insisted he had nothing to do with the 69-year-old\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, he said, reports may have indicated that he hit Kessler with his bullhorn and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aaron-donalds-attorney-claims-the-rams-star-was-trying-to-protect-a-victim-in-the-altercation\/\" title=\"Aaron Donald\u2019s Attorney Claims The Rams Star Was Trying To Protect A Victim In The Altercation\">surveillance video showed<\/a> the pro-Hamas protesters rushing over toward him before the 69-year-old Kessler fell to his death, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/loay-abdelfattah-alnaji-paul-kessler-california-israel-hamas-8680ae6dbac164a4440c4e6049a5e919\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Review<\/a>. But Alnaji, a Moorpark College professor, insisted that Kessler was the aggressor and that he fell of his own volition \u2014 possibly due to a medical condition.<\/p>\n<p>After a Wednesday court appearance, that alibi isn\u2019t looking so hot.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/loay-abdelfattah-alnaji-paul-kessler-california-israel-hamas-8680ae6dbac164a4440c4e6049a5e919\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>, a Ventura County, California judge ruled that Alnaji, 51, would face trial on involuntary manslaughter and battery charges. While the preliminary hearing requires a lower burden of proof for a judge to move forward with the charges than is needed to convict and Alnaji is indeed innocent until proven guilty, the evidence in court was pretty damning.<\/p>\n<p>While the computer science professor\u2019s lawyer, Ron Bamieh, said that a brain tumor played a role in Kessler falling over and hitting his skull on the pavement, delivering the fatal injury, medical evidence shows that the bullhorn had Kessler\u2019s DNA on it and that some of the injuries sustained by Kessler were consistent with those that would be caused by a bullhorn strike.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura County\u2019s assistant chief medical examiner, Dr. Othon Mena, said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/69-year-old-jewish-man-dies-alleged-attack-pro-palestinian-protester\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kessler<\/a> had lacerations on his left chin, left upper lip and left eye, all caused by the implement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, Kessler\u2019s DNA was found on three sections of the bullhorn, according to a crime lab technician\u2019s testimony, including a bloodstain that was found near the bottom of the bullhorn,\u201d National Review reported.<\/p>\n<p>Alnaji\u2019s DNA was not found on the bullhorn, but video from Kessler\u2019s phone showed the defendant holding what prosecutors say was the weapon just before the attack took place.<\/p>\n<p>Mena could not determine whether the skull fracture or a tear on the back of his head were caused due to the assault with the bullhorn or the fall, he testified in court.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Alnaji be convicted?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Kessler died several hours after the attack.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Loay Alnaji\u2019s Homicide of Paul Kessler Prelim is 5\/14. Their Imam recognized them from prev week, their President leads Alnaji to Kessler, he targets him with the Megaphone. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Y60dmZs7U8\">pic.twitter.com\/Y60dmZs7U8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 VCNews (@NewsVCNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NewsVCNews\/status\/1789921765151387909?\">May 13, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Nov. 5, 2023 protest was one of many that happened from coast to coast in the weeks and months following the Oct. 7 terror attacks from Hamas on Israelis.<\/p>\n<p>The difference with Alnaji\u2019s case is that this is the one time that death has visited a pro-Israel voice in the United States in the name of pro-Hamas \u201cresistance.\u201d (This isn\u2019t at all uncommon in Israel, of course, but these facts tend to get swept under the carpet.)<\/p>\n<p>And, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-actor-says-unendorsing-biden-fiery-rant-treatment-israel-pushed-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as it is in Israel<\/a>, the blame is always foisted upon the victim.<\/p>\n<p>Take, for example, the testimony of Deputy Sheriff Briana Vazquez during the hearing. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vcstar.com\/story\/news\/local\/2024\/05\/14\/investigators-testify-in-hearing-in-death-of-thousand-oaks-protester-kessler-alnaji\/73681175007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ventura County Star<\/a>, she\u2019s one of the law enforcement officers who responded to the scene.<\/p>\n<p>When she interviewed Alnaji, he said that Kessler had approached <em>him<\/em> and that he had put the bullhorn up in self-defense after Kessler began recording him and putting his phone in his face.<\/p>\n<p>However, other officers who interviewed two other witnesses \u2014 one a pro-Israeli protester, the other a bystander who was at a stoplight \u2014 told a markedly different story: They say Alnaji took a \u201cswing\u201d at Kessler before the fall.<\/p>\n<p>Alnaji\u2019s response, through his lawyer?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe most of these witnesses are confused,\u201d Bamie said. \u201cThey all saw it differently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ah, yes. They were confused. Just as everyone was confused about the intent of the pro-Hamas crowd when video caught them chanting, as the dying Kessler was led away in an ambulance, \u201cHitler didn\u2019t want you, Hitler didn\u2019t want you, Hitler didn\u2019t want you, Hitler should\u2019ve smashed you!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Total confusion, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/expelled-us-college-pro-hamas-protests-iranian-university-offer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all of us<\/a>.
