In a New York\u200b Times\u200d report, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was accused of ties to the January 6 Capitol breach, but he attributed the &#8216;Stop the Steal&#8217; flag display to a neighbor feud. The situation intensified with offensive signs directed at Mrs. \u200bAlito, leading\u200c to further clarification in a discussion with Shannon Bream.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was the subject of a New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html\">report<\/a> that attempted to tie him to supporters of former President Donald Trump who breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 \u2014 but the justice himself tells a very different story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Justice Alito\u2019s House, a \u2018Stop the Steal\u2019 Symbol on Display,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/justice-alito-upside-down-flag.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NYT headline blared<\/a>, with a sub-headline explaining, \u201cAn upside-down flag, adopted by Trump supporters contesting the Biden victory, flew over the justice\u2019s front lawn as the Supreme Court was considering an election case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The piece briefly referenced a spat with a neighbor and quoted Alito as saying that he had not made the decision to fly the flag on January 17, 2021: \u201cI had no involvement whatsoever in the flying of the flag. It was briefly placed by Mrs. Alito in response to a neighbor\u2019s use of objectionable and personally insulting language on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mi-judge-orders-dem-sec-of-state-to-release-all-communications-with-dominion-facebook-apple-amazon-and-google\/\" title=\"MI Judge Orders Dem Sec of State To Release All Communications With Dominion, Facebook, Apple, Amazon and Google\">yard signs<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Justice Alito explained the context in further detail to \u201cFox News Sunday\u201d anchor \u2014 and former Supreme Court correspondent \u2014 Shannon Bream, saying that his wife had been repeatedly provoked by neighbors hurling insults and using foul language before she resorted to flying the flag.
