Marler&#8217;s call \u2062reporting an unresponsive child on November 25, 2022, marked the beginning of the harrowing incident.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A Wyoming woman who claimed a 5-year-old girl she was babysitting died after falling down the stairs has been convicted of the child\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n<p>Cheri Marler, 53, was convicted of first-degree murder and child abuse on May 10, the Cowboy State Daily <a href=\"https:\/\/cowboystatedaily.com\/2024\/05\/10\/kemmerer-babysitter-guilty-of-beating-5-year-old-girl-to-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The jury took less than 5 hours to return the guilty verdict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere isn\u2019t a winner or loser today. I am grateful to everyone who did their part to make this trial a success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marler had been babysitting 5-year-old Annabelle Noles and her sister for several weeks when, on November 25, 2022, she called 911 around 3:40 p.m. and reported an unresponsive child, the Star Valley Independent <a href=\"https:\/\/svinews.com\/jury-finds-marler-guilty-of-murder-and-child-abuse\/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR0AedDD7qG9O1zxZZ3aPBSYTk8ibN3akcwqaKeYi1cWL0tAkKfp_mkceIo_aem_AaiA-dHoqS4AzXLam4P8UzYz7igINgpaskEiIBGwg1dlmOO5HvbgiRzlak9bOaqACqWtIcl9bQU9vDApv_EN2Wvo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. First responders arrived and provided life-saving measures for the girl before she was taken to a local hospital, where she died the next morning as a result of her injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Marler was arrested shortly after Noles died, and told the Kemmerer, Wyoming, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/far-left-cheers-as-homeless-group-seizes-hotel-near-tacoma-city-leaders-negotiating-with-group-as-police-refuse-to-intervene\/\" title=\"Far Left Cheers As Homeless Group Seizes Hotel Near Tacoma; City Leaders Negotiating With Group As Police Refuse To Intervene\">police chief<\/a> that she had slapped and hit the young girl up to 10 times by \u201cclapping\u201d her hands on either side of the girl\u2019s head, the State Daily <a href=\"https:\/\/cowboystatedaily.com\/2023\/08\/23\/kemmerer-babysitters-child-murder-trial-delayed-for-surgeries-health-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> after reviewing an affidavit in the case. Marler explained to the police chief how she clapped her hands with Noles\u2019 \u201chead in the middle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the attack, Marler said Noles went to lie down, and the babysitter found her unconscious.<\/p>\n<p>Marler also admitted to police that she had beaten Noles with kitchen utensils the day before the clapping attack.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEventually, she succumbed to these fatal injuries. Her deep brain injury was a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-even-admits-theres-still-no-evidence-capitol-officer-sicknick-was-killed-by-blunt-force-to-the-head-on-january-6th\/\" title=\"CNN Even Admits There\u2019s Still No Evidence Capitol Officer Sicknick Was Killed by Blunt Force to the Head on January 6th\">blunt force trauma<\/a>, not just contact injuries,\u201d Dr. Ruiz-Maldonado testified at Marler\u2019s trial, the Uinta County Herald <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uintacountyherald.com\/stories\/kemmerer-babysitter-found-guilty-of-murder,31461\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Marler denied harming Noles when she took the stand in her own defense.<\/p>\n<p>In its closing arguments, the defense argued that it had not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Marler had caused the death of Noles. The defense stuck to the claim that the girl had fallen down the stairs, with those injuries causing her death. Noles had a broken back, bleeding in the brain, and had cuts and bruises from new and previous injuries, a doctor testified at her trial.<\/p>\n<p>The defense argued that Noles\u2019 mother was the possible cause of the abuse, as she had a history of drug abuse and had multiple drug charges.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, the jury sided with prosecutors and found Marler guilty.
