Despite \u200da short period of detention, Scheffler was released from jail in time for\u200c his scheduled tee-off.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A mugshot of the No. 1 golfer in the world was released after he was booked into jail on multiple charges \u2014 including a felony \u2014 on Friday morning while trying to get into Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, for the second round of the PGA Championship.<\/p>\n<p>Scottie Scheffler, who is coming off a victory at the Masters last month followed by the birth of his first child, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/worlds-top-golfer-arrested-while-trying-to-enter-club-for-2nd-round-of-pga-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taken to jail<\/a> by Louisville police reportedly after a traffic misunderstanding. The Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections confirmed on its website that Scheffler was booked into jail at 7:28 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>He is charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, third<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/portland-charges-suspected-antifa-members-for-riot-that-damaged-democratic-party-headquarters\/\" title=\"Portland Charges Suspected Antifa Members For Riot That Damaged Democratic Party Headquarters\">-degree criminal mischief<\/a>, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/worlds-top-golfer-arrested-while-trying-to-enter-club-for-2nd-round-of-pga-championship\/\" title=\"Top golfer arrested attempting access PGA Championship club for 2nd round\">officer directing traffic<\/a>, according to a court document, The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/live-blogs\/pga-championship-2024-live-updates-round-2-tee-times-leaderboard\/jFOTpTUadJKJ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. The second<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/colo-gun-regulation-bills-slated-to-become-law\/\" title=\"Colo. gun regulation bills slated to become law\">-degree assault charge<\/a> is a felony while the others are misdemeanors. Scheffler was released from jail at 8:40 a.m., according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/40162983\/scottie-scheffler-detained-police-prior-start-pga-championship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESPN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler was initially scheduled to tee off at 8:48 a.m., but his tee time has been moved back to 10:08 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who said he witnessed the incident, reported that Scheffler attempted to drive on a median to get around the scene of the accident. A police officer reportedly told Scheffler to stop, but Scheffler allegedly continued to drive another 10 to 20 yards toward the Valhalla Golf Club entrance.
