The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles recommended the \u200dpardon after an in-depth\u2063 review.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Texas Governor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/greg-abbott\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greg Abbott<\/a> granted a full pardon on Thursday to a man who was convicted in a Democrat county of killing a Black Lives Matter protester who approached his vehicle while armed with an AK-47.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Perry, a 35-year-old U.S. Army sergeant, had been sentenced to 25 years in prison after he was convicted in Travis County on a murder charge from the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Perry insisted that he acted in self-defense during the incident and immediately called 911 and turned himself in to law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles conducted an exhaustive review of U.S. Army Sergeant Daniel Perry\u2019s personal history and the facts surrounding the July 2020 incident and recommended a Full Pardon and Restoration of Full Civil Rights of Citizenship,\u201d Abbott said in a statement. \u201cAmong the voluminous files reviewed by the Board, they considered information provided by the Travis County District Attorney, the full investigative report on Daniel Perry, plus a review of all the testimony provided at trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas has one of the strongest \u2018Stand Your Ground\u2019 laws of self-defense that cannot be nullified by a jury or a progressive District Attorney,\u201d Abbott continued. \u201cI thank the Board for its thorough investigation, and I approve their pardon recommendation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>David Fugitt, the lead investigating detective in the case, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/daniel-perrys-legal-team-files-motion-for-new-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in an affidavit that District Attorney Jose Garza, whose campaign was backed by billionaire Democrat megadonor George Soros, acted with \u201ccriminal behavior\u201d in the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had several conversations with the District Attorney\u2019s Office regarding the presentation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-governor-greg-abbott-working-swiftly-to-pardon-daniel-perry\/\" title=\"Texas Governor Greg Abbott Working \u2018Swiftly\u2019 To Pardon Daniel Perry\">exculpatory evidence related<\/a> to Daniel Perry,\u201d Fugitt said. \u201cIt became clear to me that the District Attorney\u2019s Office did not want to present evidence to the grand jury that would be exculpatory to Daniel Perry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn more than one occasion I was directed by the Travis County Attorney\u2019s Office to remove exculpatory information that I had intended to present to the grand jury during my testimony,\u201d he said. \u201cOf my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pressure-grows-for-governor-greg-abbott-to-act-after-daniel-perry-convicted-in-case-led-by-soros-da\/\" title=\"Pressure Grows For Governor Greg Abbott To Act After Daniel Perry Convicted In Case Led By Soros DA\">original 158 slide powerpoint presentation<\/a>, the presentation was reduced to 56 slides with almost all of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-man-convicted-of-fatally-shooting-black-lives-matter-protester-wont-get-new-trial-judge-rules\/\" title=\"Texas man who killed Black Lives Matter protester won't receive new trial, judge decides.\">exculpatory evidence ordered removed<\/a>.
