Both\u2062 women were convicted for obstructing \u2062access to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sasse-reintroduces-infant-protection-bill\/\" title=\"Sasse Reintroduces Infant Protection Bill\">abortion clinic<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republican <\/a>House lawmakers are demanding answers from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Bureau of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Prisons<\/a> regarding reports that two anti-abortion elderly women in their custody were not provided with \u201cmedically necessary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fla-gov-and-cnn-reporter-get-in-heated-exchange-over-covid-19-vaccine-distribution\/\" title=\"Fla. gov. and CNN reporter get in heated exchange over COVID-19 vaccine distribution\">health care services<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply concerned by reports suggesting that the U.S. Marshal Service did not provide medically necessary health care services to two prisoners in its custody: Ms. Jean Marshall, 74, and Heather Idoni, 59,\u201d House Pro-Life Caucus Co-Chairmen Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Andy Harris (R-MD) <a href=\"https:\/\/chrissmith.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/2024-05-16_-_member_letter_on_healthcare_for_marshall_and_idoni.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>wrote<\/a> to USMS Director Ronald Davis and BOP Director Colette Peters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask Director Davis to provide a clear and comprehensive account of the care provided to Ms. Idoni and Ms. Marshall during their time in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-lawmakers-urge-doj-to-open-criminal-investigation-into-cuomo-for-alleged-obstruction-of-justice\/\" title=\"U.S. Lawmakers Urge DOJ To Open Criminal Investigation Into Cuomo For Alleged Obstruction Of Justice\">letter continued<\/a>, also calling on Peters to \u201cadvise us on what actions the Bureau of Prisons has taken to ensure Ms. Marshall is receiving appropriate care.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also ask for information on actions the Bureau of Prisons plans to take to provide appropriate care for Ms. Idoni if she is placed in Bureau of Prison custody,\u201d the letter added, which was also signed by Judiciary subcommittee Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Chip Roy (R-TX), Harriet Hageman (R-WY), Claudia Tenney (R-NY), and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ).<\/p>\n<p>Marshall and Idoni were both convicted of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act for blockading access to an abortion clinic in Northwest Washington, D.C., in October 2020. Since August 2023,\u00a0Idoni has been in the custody of the USMS, according to the lawmakers, and Marshall has been in custody since September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall was sentenced to 15 additional months in prison on May 25, and Idoni is scheduled to be sentenced next week. Idoni will also be sentenced on July 30 for convictions of conspiracy and FACE Act convictions in an unrelated clinic blockade from Tennessee, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/seven-defendants-sentenced-federal-conspiracy-against-rights-and-freedom-access-clinic#:~:text=Idoni%20is%20scheduled%20to%20be,unrelated%20clinic%20blockade%20from%20Tennessee.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according to<\/a> the Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>The Republicans\u2019 letter details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/pro-lifer-heather-idoni-accuses-dc-jail-of-gross-medical-neglect-after-recent-stroke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>a report<\/a> that Idoni suffered a stroke about two weeks ago and had three stents placed above her heart. She was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-key-points-from-trump-campaign-press-conference-on-challenges-to-election-results\/\" title=\"9 Key Points from Trump Campaign Press Conference on Challenges to Election Results\">allegedly told<\/a> to take daily doses of heart medicine, but at the time of publication on Monday, she said she had not been given a single dose.<\/p>\n<p>Idoni reportedly raised her concerns with prison officials, but she said a nurse told her after six days that jail records indicated that she received her daily dose. Idoni is concerned that her medical records are being falsified and told\u00a0a reporter that \u201cshe was frightened that she might die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Idoni is said to also suffer from diabetes, and she has said the jail has not offered her diabetes medication, leaving her without any prescription.<\/p>\n<p>Marshall, on the other hand, was allegedly denied hip surgery despite struggling with the ability to walk and two emergency room visits since the time of her incarceration.
