The outcome could lead to Donald \u200bTrump and Kamala\u200b Harris serving as President\u200d and\u2062 Vice President, impacting American democracy.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aaltomari\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/aaltomari\/%20\"><span>Anthony Altomari<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 16, 2024 at 11:47am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>You read that right: A Trump-Harris administration is entirely possible in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s an unlikely, but possible, scenario that could change the course of history.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the 2024 race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nevertrump-donors-change-heart-becoming-never-biden-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a> is neck-and-neck, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.archives.gov\/electoral-college\/faq#no270\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Archives<\/a> outlined what would happen if neither candidate receives the 270 electoral votes necessary to become president:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf no candidate receives a majority of electoral votes, the Presidential election leaves the Electoral College process and moves to Congress. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/house-passes-bill-forces-biden-administration-keep-hands-off-home-appliances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House of Representatives<\/a> elects the President from the three (3) Presidential candidates who received the most electoral votes. Each State delegation has one vote and it is up to the individual States to determine how to vote. (Since the District of Columbia is not a State, it has no State delegation in the House and cannot vote). A candidate must receive at least 26 votes (a majority of the States) to be elected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Senate elects the Vice President from the two (2) Vice Presidential candidates with the most electoral votes. Each Senator casts one vote for Vice President. (Since the District of Columbia is not a State, it has no Senators so does not participate in the vote). A candidate must receive at least 51 votes (a majority of Senators) to be elected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the House of Representatives fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s assume that neither Biden nor Trump secures 270 electoral votes. In that case, the House would choose between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-asserts-executive-privilege-block-release-damaging-special-counsel-audio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden<\/a>, Trump and the likely third-highest vote-getter, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., for the presidency.<\/p>\n<p>In this scenario, any of the three would need just 26 states to vote them into the White House. There\u2019s a good chance that the Republican-controlled House will side with Trump, making him the 47th president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Turning to the Senate, the choice would come down to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/democrats-run-focus-groups-figure-people-dont-like-kamala-harris-end-learning-brutal-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kamala Harris<\/a> and whoever Trump chooses to be his running mate. Since Democrats currently control the Senate, Harris would likely come out victorious.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are you voting for Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>That means that Donald Trump and Kamala Harris could serve together as the president and vice president of the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans and Democrats alike are probably filled with anxiety reading that sentence.<\/p>\n<p>And since the president and vice president can only be removed by impeachment, Trump and Harris would be stuck with each other for four years.<\/p>\n<p>You may think that there\u2019s no way that this situation could ever occur. After all, there\u2019s never been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/are-covid-case-surges-more-fake-news\/\" title=\"Are COVID Case Surges More Fake News?\">presidential election<\/a> where a candidate failed to get the required votes.<\/p>\n<p>However, the possibility of a tie is entirely plausible.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage in the race, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/elections\/president\/2024\/battleground-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitics<\/a> lists seven states as the \u201ctop battleground\u201d states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>Say Biden takes the Rust Belt states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all of which he won in 2020. Give Trump the other four, and we\u2019re left with a 269-269 tie.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A Trump-Biden tie in the Electoral College sounds outlandish, but it\u2019s possible.<\/p>\n<p>The last time it happened, 200 years ago, the backlash changed American democracy forever. If history repeats itself this year, the fallout could be just as existential. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lkQ2QJ1Rab\">https:\/\/t.co\/lkQ2QJ1Rab<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 POLITICO (@politico) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/politico\/status\/1791161895182819780?\">May 16, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>So yes, this situation is possible.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not to say it will happen. Trump is currently leading in all seven <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/update-corrupted-software-that-stole-6000-votes-from-trump-in-michigan-county-shut-down-for-two-hours-in-red-counties-in-georgia-on-election-day\/\" title=\"Update: Corrupted Software that Stole 6,000 Votes From Trump in Michigan County -- Shut Down for TWO HOURS in Red Counties in Georgia on Election Day\">battleground states<\/a>, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average.<\/p>\n<p>And, in order for the tie to occur, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-danger-left-off-ballot-battleground-state-attorney-general-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">battleground<\/a> states mentioned above would have to vote in a very specific way, and all other states would have to go to the current front-runner in the polls.<\/p>\n<p>So, sure, maybe there\u2019s nothing to worry about.
