Trump \u200dleads in five of six \u200ccritical \u2062states, signaling noteworthy \u2064shifts in donor support in North \u200dCarolina and Michigan.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>President Joe Biden<\/a> is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/elections\/biden-trump-donors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dominating<\/a> former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a> in terms of the race for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>donors<\/a>, but all his fundraising success might not be enough to win reelection.<\/p>\n<p>Biden is beating his opponent in almost every financial metric. The president has raised nearly $160 million to Trump\u2019s $114 million, and he has more donors contributing to his campaign overall. However, raw dollar figures are not always enough to deliver a win in November.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <em>New York Times<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2024\/05\/16\/us\/elections\/biden-trump-donors.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>report<\/a>, Biden may be lacking financial firepower in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/swing-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>key geographic locations<\/a>. The latest <em>New York Times<\/em>\/Siena poll puts Biden far behind Trump in many key swing states. In the must-win battleground states of Michigan and Pennsylvania, his donors are dipping, as are population centers in North Carolina, a state the Biden campaign has tried to put in play for Democrats this year.<\/p>\n<p>In some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/9-key-points-from-trump-campaign-press-conference-on-challenges-to-election-results\/\" title=\"9 Key Points from Trump Campaign Press Conference on Challenges to Election Results\">key states<\/a> such as Arizona, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/local\/phoenix\/2024\/01\/26\/maricopa-county-how-many-people-live-in-biggest-metro-of-arizona\/72353389007\/#:~:text=The%20county%20was%20home%20to,62%25%20of%20Arizona's%20total%20population.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>notably<\/a> Maricopa County, which makes up over 60% of the state\u2019s population, and Wisconsin, Biden is heavily increasing donors. Trump is increasing some donors, but notably in non-competitive Republican states such as Idaho and Utah.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, however, is polling ahead of Biden in five of six key states: Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. In Wisconsin, Biden is polling ahead.<\/p>\n<h2>Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina<\/h2>\n<p>Biden lost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>North Carolina<\/a> to Trump in 2020 by just over 1 point. Before former President Barack Obama won in 2008, the last time the Tar Heel State chose a Democrat for the presidency was 1976 with Jimmy Carter. Biden\u2019s campaign still believes North Carolina is within <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2914841\/biden-follows-obamas-lead-again-with-push-to-capture-north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reach<\/a>. In some parts of the population centers of Charlotte and Raleigh, however, the president is losing some donors.<\/p>\n<p>In Charlotte, which is among the 10 fastest-growing cities in the United States, Biden is losing some donors he had in 2020. Many people who are moving to North Carolina are young, minorities, and coming from blue states such as California and New York.<\/p>\n<p>Outside Raleigh, in Durham and Chapel Hill, which are home to Duke University and the University of North Carolina, respectively, Biden is not pulling as many donors as he did in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, too, is heavily losing donors in Charlotte and Raleigh.<\/p>\n<h2>Detroit and Dearborn, Michigan<\/h2>\n<p>In Michigan, Biden has 11% more donors than he did in 2020. He is picking up voters in other areas, such as Traverse City and Grand Rapids. In some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/it-begins-israel-calls-up-thousands-of-troops-positions-heavy-machinery-for-ground-offensive\/\" title=\"IT BEGINS: Israel Calls Up Thousands Of Troops, Positions Heavy Machinery For Ground Offensive\">densely populated areas<\/a>, however, he is losing donors.<\/p>\n<p>In Dearborn, Biden is not gaining any donors. It is notably the <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/a-brief-history-of-dearborn-michigan-the-first-arab-american-majority-city-in-the-us-216700#:~:text=The%20city%20became%20the%20first,ancestry%20on%20the%202023%20census\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>first<\/a> Arab-majority city in the U.S., with 55% of the population having Middle Eastern or North African heritage. Biden has faced harsh criticism from Democrats there over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war. Statewide, he faced an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/michigans-strong-uncommitted-vote-shows-israel-impact-biden-support-2024-02-28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>uncommitted<\/a>\u201d protest vote against him, with more than 100,000 people voting against him.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan, as a <a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/state-rankings\/arab-population-by-state\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>whole<\/a>, has the highest number of Arab Americans of any state at 2.1% of the population.<\/p>\n<p>In Detroit, Biden is also not gaining any donors from 2020. Detroit is an important stronghold for a demographic Biden is trying to keep in Democrats\u2019 hands: black voters. According to the poll, Trump has made massive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2959250\/trump-jews-vote-biden-do-not-love-israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gains<\/a> with black voters, garnering 20% of their support, which would be the highest for any Republican to receive from African Americans since 1964.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has also dipped significantly in donations from the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas. Still, in 2020, Biden won Wayne County, which encompasses both Detroit and Dearborn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/2020-election\/results\/michigan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>by more than <\/a>250,000 votes.<\/p>\n<h2>Philadelphia and Pittsburgh<\/h2>\n<p>In population centers such as Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, Biden has fewer donors than he did in 2020. It could be worrisome as Pennsylvania is a state Trump narrowly won in 2016 and Biden recaptured in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, more than 500,000 people voted for Biden over Trump in Philadelphia County, and in Allegheny County, home of Pittsburgh, Biden was victorious by a large margin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Biden has maintained much of his support from older, white voters, and he is the most competitive against Trump in white, northern states such as Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>In neighboring Delaware, Biden\u2019s home state, donors are down as well.
