Senator Joni Ernst condemned the Biden administration\u2019s actions and demanded accountability from the Small Business Administration. The administration&#8217;s controversial voter registration efforts in Michigan raised concerns about its political interference, prompting legal challenges.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>The arguably least transparent administration in history continues to stonewall lawmakers trying to get answers about \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\">Bidenbucks<\/a>,\u201d President Joe Biden\u2019s unprecedented use of federal agencies to drive a massive get-out-the-vote campaign targeting Democrats. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, ranking member on the Senate\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbc.senate.gov\/public\/index.cfm\/rankingmember\">Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship<\/a>, said it was \u201cbeyond disturbing\u201d that Biden\u2019s Small Business Administration (SBA) is using untold amounts of taxpayer money to register voters and participate in politically motivated travel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-203181361\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-670fabe27c841d1ae5079baf087ec3db fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-670fabe27c841d1ae5079baf087ec3db\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI came to Washington to make bureaucrats squeal, and I won\u2019t sit idly by as Biden officials shirk their responsibilities and hide their misdoings from Congress,\u201d Ernst said in a statement to The Federalist. \u201cAs Ranking Member of the Senate Small Business Committee, I will continue fighting tooth and nail to hold the SBA accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ernst and Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, chairman of the <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/about\/chair.htm\">House Committee on Small Business<\/a>, have demanded answers about the SBA\u2019s involvement in a voter registration effort in Michigan, one of several swing states expected to play a significant role in electing the next president. As The Federalist <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/29\/bidenbucks-tentacles-expand-as-judge-shuts-down-lawsuit\/\">reported<\/a> in March, the Michigan Department of State <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/article\/2024\/03\/19\/sba-administrator-guzman-announces-agencys-first-ever-voter-registration-agreement-michigan\">signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU)<\/a> with the SBA \u201cto promote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan.\u201d The agreement, according to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman, is a \u201cfirst-of-its-kind collaboration\u201d for the federal agency. <\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0partnership is expected to run through Jan. 1, 2036.\u00a0That is if legal challenges can\u2019t stop the apparently unconstitutional \u201cunderstanding.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Guzman insists that weaponizing the full force of the federal government to turn out voters for Biden and his big-government allies is all about \u201cprotecting and strengthening our democracy.\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidenbucks-tentacles-expand-as-judge-shuts-down-lawsuit\/\" title=\"Bidenbucks' Influence Grows Following Lawsuit Shutdown\">federal bureaucrat believes registering voters<\/a> is suddenly under the purview of the Small Business Administration.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-22d670eb80a3ce43b98fedd865da516a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-22d670eb80a3ce43b98fedd865da516a\"><\/div>\n<p>Last week, Rep. Williams <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=405968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">subpoenaed<\/a> Tyler Robinson, special adviser to the SBA\u2019s administrator, and Arthur Plews, the administrator\u2019s chief of staff, after SBA officials refused to comply with the Small Business Committee\u2019s ongoing investigation into \u201cpotential engineering\u201d activities. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe committee has\u00a0given these two individuals the opportunity to speak with us voluntarily, but this appears to be the only way to get them to comply with our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-agency-hit-with-unprecedented-subpoena-over-concerning-voter-registration-initiative\/\" title=\"Biden Administration Agency Receives Unprecedented Subpoena for Voter Registration Initiative\">constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities<\/a>,\u201d Williams said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/smallbusiness.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=405968\">statement<\/a>. \u201cThe\u00a0American people deserve answers and transparency on the electioneering activities of the SBA and how they have or plan to insert themselves in the upcoming federal elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Outside Political Objectives\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Michigan\u2019s partnership with the SBA is part of Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2021\/03\/07\/executive-order-on-promoting-access-to-voting\/\">Executive Order 14019<\/a>. Election integrity advocates have dubbed the order \u201cBidenbucks\u201d \u2014 a nod to the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/13\/wisconsins-left-led-supreme-court-could-bring-back-illegal-widespread-ballot-drop-boxes\/\">Zuckbucks<\/a>\u201d rolled out in the 2020 election. Signed within months of the Democrat\u2019s narrow victories in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/conservatives-fed-up-with-democrats-get-out-the-vote-machine-build-their-own-in-battleground-states\/\" title=\"Conservatives create their own voter mobilization system in key states, tired of Democrats' efforts\">election-deciding battleground states<\/a> like Michigan, the executive order is benignly painted as \u201cpromoting access to voting.\u201d It aims to do just that, but it targets traditionally left-leaning voters, election integrity advocates charge. <\/p>\n<p>As Tarren Bragdon, president and CEO of the Foundation for Government Accountability, wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/bidens-illegal-election-hail-mary-might-still-be-intercepted\/\">2022 column<\/a> in The Federalist, the order \u201cdirects all federal agencies to do what they can to increase voter registration and turnout, including by working with a select group of third-party organizations \u2018approved\u2019 by the White House.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2184efe0d3d0870fa8300b5b8c978c90 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2184efe0d3d0870fa8300b5b8c978c90\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSounds harmless on its face, until you consider the fact that it is being carried out by political appointees whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-illegal-election-hail-mary-might-still-be-intercepted\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Illegal Election Hail Mary Might Still Be Intercepted\">job security literally depends<\/a> on Democrats being reelected in 2022 and 2024, and that the person charged with collecting the plans and leading this effort is President Joe Biden\u2019s domestic policy advisor, Susan Rice,\u201d Bragdon <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/27\/bidens-illegal-election-hail-mary-might-still-be-intercepted\/\">wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As Williams says, voter registration and GOTV campaigns aren\u2019t the domain of federal agencies. The SBA, the congressman said, was created \u201cto help Main Street thrive and grow, and they have repeatedly strayed from that mission to pursue outside political objectives.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/23\/exclusive-pennsylvania-lawmakers-appeal-to-supreme-court-in-case-challenging-bidenbucks\/\">federal lawsuit<\/a> filed by Pennsylvania state lawmakers argues Biden\u2019s executive order infringes on their constitutional rights and responsibilities to operate elections without federal and state executive branch interference.\u00a0\u201c[A]ll agency action in conformity with [EO] 14019 is without congressional delegation or funding, and conducted merely by executive fiat,\u201d the lawsuit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.democracydocket.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/M.D.-Pa.-24-cv-00147-dckt-000048_000-filed-2024-03-26.pdf\">asserts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s order, the lawsuit alleges, has the force of changing Pennsylvania election law by taking away the state legislature\u2019s powers and violating lawmakers\u2019 federal civil rights under both the <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/browse\/essay\/artII-S1-C2-1\/ALDE_00013798\/\">electors<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/browse\/article-1\/section-4\/#:~:text=Clause%201%20Elections%20Clause,the%20Places%20of%20chusing%20Senators.\">elections clauses<\/a> of the Constitution. After a lower court dismissed the case on grounds that the legislators lacked standing, the lawmakers <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/23\/exclusive-pennsylvania-lawmakers-appeal-to-supreme-court-in-case-challenging-bidenbucks\/\">asked<\/a> the U.S. Supreme Court to weigh in. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018The Records Must Be Explosive\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>As the Washington Examiner first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/2976771\/biden-small-business-administrator-joni-ernst\/\">reported<\/a> last month, Ernst sent a letter to Guzman demanding answers following video footage by conservative activist James O\u2019Keefe showing an adviser discussing how the SBA chief \u201ctravels across the country to help elect Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe senior advisor claims you are \u2018the most traveled member of the cabinet\u2019 and that your official travel is purposefully targeted to \u2018indirectly campaign for Joe Biden\u2019 in a way that attempts to circumvent the Hatch Act,\u201d Ernst wrote in the letter. \u201cUsing taxpayer dollars in an attempt to engage in federal campaign activities is a gross abuse of official agency resources and needs to be further investigated.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"zHGXBviPMhuUnRBYrjEs5yFgkPp71rMg3WNI8uTveHEl19bpcKAQZSWbetRa8NGwdF4\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: O\u2019Keefe Media Uncovers who is really running the White House. Such recalcitrance continues to raise the question: What does the Biden administration have to hide? <\/p>\n<p>The Foundation for Government Accountability has been asking that question for over two years. <\/p>\n<p>In July 2022, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida <a href=\"https:\/\/casetext.com\/case\/the-found-for-govt-accountability-v-us-dept-of-justice\">ordered<\/a> the Department of Justice to respond to FGA\u2019s Freedom of Information Act request and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefga.org\/fga-v-doj\/\">provide all documents<\/a> required to be disclosed under FOIA law.\u201d The DOJ <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/28\/what-else-is-biden-hiding-in-his-plan-to-use-bidenbucks-to-get-out-the-likely-democrat-vote\/\">finally coughed up<\/a> 135 pages of documents, a fragment of the 5,500-plus records the department initially claimed to possess. The documents the department did turn over were heavily redacted, according to the foundation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been trying to get these records for over three years. It\u2019s now crystal clear the Department of Justice is trying to run out the clock until November to help Joe Biden stumble back into office,\u201d said Madeline Malisa, senior fellow at the Foundation for Government Accountability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHiding public records from private citizens is bad enough.
