Verret, an ear, nose and throat doctor in Texas, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Business\/ev-drivers-passengers-motion-sickness\/story?id=110131757\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe brain sets up a model for what it expects in certain situations,\u201d he said. \u201cIn combustion cars, you hear the engine revving and know someone is stepping on the accelerator. The car moves forward. In an EV, the auditory and visual inputs don\u2019t fit the model that you are actually moving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Passengers are most likely to suffer, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re the driver, your head moves when you turn the wheel to the left,\u201d he said. \u201cOur brain is responding to what it\u2019s expecting to happen. If you\u2019re a passenger, you can\u2019t see those motions. If you have a certain lateral acceleration \u2014 like turning a corner fast \u2014 that will increase your potential for dizziness and motion sickness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ed Kim, president and chief analyst of AutoPacific, called Teslas the \u201cworst offenders,\u201d saying they can be \u201cvery jerky and really abrupt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John Voelcker, a contributing editor at Car and Driver, said it\u2019s not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ev-fail-car-dealers-turning-away-electric-vehicles-learning-harsh-economics-lesson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just the vehicle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of motion sickness, honestly, is because of the driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said abrupt acceleration and braking wreaks havoc with riders.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you ever considered buying an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\">electric vehicle<\/a>?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIt can cause some people to get sick,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cStrong regenerative braking, which recaptures max energy, can cause motion sickness. There is a learning curve to lifting off the accelerator in an EV \u2026 you have to modulate it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Matt Farah, editor-at-large for Road &#038; Track, said the combination of factors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-shows-massive-line-electric-vehicles-waiting-charge-11-pm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spells trouble<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way an EV motor delivers power \u2014 and the absence of sound \u2014 are what make you feel dizzy going fast in one,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Sound is an important cue for passengers, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0003687020300211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2020 study<\/a> published in Science Direct by Vrije University in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing able to anticipate upcoming motion is known to potentially mitigate sickness resulting from provocative motion,\u201d the study said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAverage illness ratings were significantly lower for the condition that contained informative auditory cues, as compared to the condition without informative cues. This knowledge, i.e. that auditory signals can improve anticipation to motion, could be of importance in reducing carsickness in domains such as that of autonomous vehicles,\u201d the study said.<\/p>\n<p>Although it is far from science, an Instagram poster calling herself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C6efOCGJy79\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">livingwellwithelle<\/a> insisted she had multiple symptoms linked to her EV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFatigue was the first symptom and it got worse over time,\u201d she posted, alleging that shoulder and neck pain, nosebleeds, nausea and even hair loss took place during the time she owned a Tesla.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisclaimer: Am I sure the car caused these symptoms? I\u2019m not 100% sure of anything. Is it likely?
