The bridge was struck around 10 a.m. local time, leading to the mishap. The collision \u2064between a\u2062 fuel barge and a bridge in south Texas\u2062 resulted in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-intel-israel-did-not-bomb-gaza-hospital\/\" title=\"Israel did not bomb Gaza hospital, confirms U.S. intelligence.\">structural\u2063 damage<\/a> and an oil \u200cspill in Galveston.\u200c The\u2062 incident took \u200bplace when a tugboat lost control of the barges it was maneuvering\u2064 near the Pelican Island Causeway, \u2062striking the bridge\u2062 at approximately 10 a.m. local time.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A fuel barge slammed into a bridge in southern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/texas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Texas<\/a> on Wednesday, causing damage to the structure and oil to spill into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/china-simulates-attack-on-taiwan\/\" title=\"China Models Attack on Taiwan\">surrounding waters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The accident in Galveston \u2014 which is just south of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico \u2014 happened when the barge ran into the Pelican Island Causeway, a bridge that connects the town to Pelican Island.<\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/bridge-barge-galveston-texas-6c112f0032ab88fbdd0c78d1957247c8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that the bridge was struck around 10 a.m. local time when \u201ca tugboat backing out of Texas International Terminals, a fuel storage operator next to the bridge, lost control of two barges it was pushing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There was no indication that anyone had been harmed in the accident even though one person reportedly fell off the barge during the accident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe current was very bad, and the tide was high,\u201d said David Flores, a bridge superintendent with the Galveston County Navigation District. \u201cHe lost it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BRIDGE CLOSURE | A barge struck the Pelican Island Causeway, shutting it down in both directions this morning.
