The latest \u2062data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates a 0.3%\u200d increase from March, with significant jumps in gas and housing expenses. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell highlighted unexpected inflation \u200cchallenges in 2024. President Biden continues to navigate\u200b inflation concerns as he promotes \u200dhis economic policies.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Prices last month were up 3.4% compared to April 2023, largely due to high gas prices and rising rent costs, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statistics<\/a>, released on Wednesday, show that prices in April rose 0.3% from March, with most of the increases coming from gas and shelter costs. Energy prices jumped 1.1% in April from March as gas prices remained elevated. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">April\u2019s 0.3% monthly increase comes after back-to-back monthly increases of 0.4% in February and March. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe index for all items less food and energy rose 0.3 percent in April, after rising 0.4 percent in each of the 3 preceding months,\u201d according to a summary of the Consumer Price Index. \u201cIndexes which increased in April include shelter, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-federal-reserve-eases-up-on-interest-rate-hikes-as-inflation-slowly-cools\/\" title=\"Fed eases rate hikes as inflation cools.\">motor vehicle insurance<\/a>, medical care, apparel, and personal care.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said on Tuesday that inflation so far in 2024 had been higher than expected. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe did not expect this to be a smooth road, but these were higher than I think anybody expected,\u201d he <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/economy\/articles\/2024-05-15\/consumer-prices-cool-slightly-in-april-a-welcome-sign-for-the-fed-and-wall-street\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cWhat that has told us is that we will need to be patient and let restrictive policy do its work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inflation has been a consistent problem for President Joe Biden as he has campaigned for re-election on his \u201cBidenomics\u201d message. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Earlier this week, Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-caught-repeating-false-claim-about-inflation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> in an interview that inflation was at 9% when he became president back in January 2021.
