I feel so bad for the people I work with \u2026 It is flat-out brutal. Everybody\u2019s scared to death,\u201d he said of the fan favorite show\u2019s staff and crew.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yGScMoyRmPg?si=5rHgX41cbIB8w2J-&#038;start=1442\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Barkley highlighted that this is the first time the exclusive negotiating window has expired before TNT and the NBA agreed to a new broadcast rights deal and that there\u2019s still a 50-50 chance that Warner Bros. Discovery retains its NBA rights, allowing \u201cInside the NBA\u201d to continue airing on TNT.<\/p>\n<p>Barkley said they are in a \u201cbidding war\u201d with NBC, which was last valued at around $2.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time we have not signed it in that exclusive window. I feel so bad for the people I work with,\u201d Barkley said.<\/p>\n<p>Recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/dbloom\/2024\/05\/10\/nba-rights-costs-put-wbd-zaslav-between-rock-and-very-hard-place\/?sh=12ab5013fb6c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reports<\/a> have surfaced that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav needed to counter NBC\u2019s $2.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kroger-buying-rival-albertsons-in-24-6b-merger\/\" title=\"Kroger buying rival Albertsons in .6B merger\">5 billion offer<\/a> with a $2.8 billion bid.<\/p>\n<p>Should TNT lose NBA rights, numerous producers and technical staff could face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cnns-big-bet-charles-barkley-gayle-king-flop-getting-worse\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">job losses<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Another angle to consider is LeBron James\u2019 role in all of this.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon has expressed interest in bringing James on board as an analyst if he retires by the 2025-26 season, leveraging their existing relationship through his show \u201cThe Shop.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to Andrew Marchand of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5450902\/2024\/04\/27\/nba-broadcasting-rights-tnt-amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Athletic<\/a>, \u201cOne name, if you want to think really big \u2014 and aggregators, hold your rewrites for now \u2014 is LeBron James, if he were to retire by 2025-26.
