They lodged the\u2062 complaint in the \u2062U.S. District Court in Lake Charles, contesting \u200ca rule mandating employer \u200caccommodations for employee abortions under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. This bipartisan act intends to safeguard\u2064 pregnant\u200c employees by providing \u200cnecessary accommodations related to pregnancy, childbirth, and associated medical conditions. The attorneys general, both Republicans, are seeking an injunction to halt the enforcement of this rule.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>(The Center Square) \u2013\u00a0The attorneys general of Louisiana and Mississippi have filed a lawsuit seeking to stop a new rule by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that they say could impose a national abortion regime.<\/p>\n<p>Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch filed the complaint in the U.S. District Court in Lake Charles on Monday that seeks to challenge a rule that would require employers to accommodate employees\u2019 abortions under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. <\/p>\n<p>This bipartisan bill was intended to provide protections for pregnant women in the workplace, including \u201creasonable accomodations\u201d related to pregnancy, childbirth or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-one-should-be-forced-to-choose-between-his-faith-and-his-paycheck\/\" title=\"No One Should Be Forced To Choose Between His Faith And His Paycheck\">related medical conditions<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The two Republican attorneys general are <a href=\"https:\/\/d31hzlhk6di2h5.cloudfront.net\/20240514\/d0\/d4\/44\/7e\/09a4ad59af68a3f21eb52a0c\/_File-Stamped__Louisiana_v._EEOC_-_Complaint.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>seeking an injunction<\/strong><\/a> to stop the rule, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2024\/04\/19\/2024-07527\/implementation-of-the-pregnant-workers-fairness-act\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>which goes in effect 60 days<\/strong><\/a> after it has been filed in the federal register. The rule is intended to implement the provisions of the\u00a0Pregnant Workers Fairness Act passed by Congress in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis new action by the EEOC is another example of bureaucrats rewriting acts of Congress to their own liking, and it\u2019s unconstitutional,\u201d Murrill said in a news release. \u201cWe will continue to challenge this administration\u2019s overreach and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/louisiana-legislature-passes-bill-to-ban-the-shipment-of-abortion-drugs\/\" title=\"Louisiana Legislature Passes Bill To Ban The Shipment Of Abortion Drugs\">protect pregnant women<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the complaint, the two attorneys general say the new rule, which doesn\u2019t require employers to pay travel costs for an abortion or an employee\u2019s insurer to pay for an abortion, runs afoul of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization, which overturned the Roe v.
