(AP Photo\/Scott Bauer)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This move toward accepting early and absentee ballots, a practice that has been around since <a href=\"https:\/\/news.azpm.org\/p\/newsfeature\/2020\/8\/21\/178857-arizonas-long-history-with-voting-by-mail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>at least<\/a> the 1990s in many states, could be a sign that Republicans nationally are warming to the idea of their base using the voting method. <\/p>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whoopi-goldberg-is-in-deep-s-at-abc-for-holocaust-remarks-insiders-demand-she-be-fired-report\/\" title=\"Whoopi Goldberg Is In \u2018Deep S***\u2019 At ABC For Holocaust Remarks, Insiders Demand She Be Fired: Report\">repeatedly falsely claimed<\/a> that ballot drop boxes led to widespread voter fraud in 2020. He has switched course, recently posting on Truth Social, \u201cAbsentee voting, early voting and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-endorses-moving-mlb-all-star-game-out-of-georgia-lauds-athletes-using-sports-to-push-politics\/\" title=\"Biden Endorses Moving MLB All-Star Game Out Of Georgia, Lauds Athletes Using Sports To Push Politics\">election day voting<\/a> are all good options,\u201d and urging Republican voters to \u201cmake a plan, register and vote!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of the outcome, we urge all Republicans to make a plan to vote by the method that works best for you,\u201d Republican National Committee spokeswoman Claire Fortenberry Zunk said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>Democrats widely used ballot drop boxes during the 2020 election due to COVID-19. This year, they are expected to do the same. <a href=\"https:\/\/city.milwaukee.gov\/mayorbarrett\/News\/2020-News\/Absentee-Ballot-Drop-Boxes-Available-at-15-Locations-across-the-City-Including-13-Milwaukee-Public\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Milwaukee<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsonline.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2024\/05\/13\/wisconsin-supreme-court-taking-on-absentee-ballot-drop-boxes-case\/73541899007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Dane<\/a> counties, the state\u2019s Democratic strongholds, had 29 drop boxes between both of them. Ballot drop boxes are present in 66 of Wisconsin\u2019s 72 counties.<\/p>\n<p>Jay Heck, the executive director of Common Cause Wisconsin, is part of one group that filed the amicus brief in support of overturning the 2022 decision to ban the boxes. Groups like his believe ballot boxes allow more accessibility for voting across the Badger State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite worries and claims by election deniers and conspiracy theorists, drop boxes were not used for any nefarious purpose like they\u2019ve claimed,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/state\/2980516\/why-all-eyes-are-on-wisconsin-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Wisconsin is one<\/a> of seven swing states in the 2024 general election.
