State University published the findings this week, coinciding with Monday and Tuesday\u2019s North Carolina Manufacturing Conference in Durham.<\/p>\n<p>Adoption of industry 4.0 technologies, development of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/toyota-to-build-billion-dollar-battery-plant-in-north-carolina-creating-almost-2000-jobs\/\" title=\"Toyota To Build Billion Dollar Battery Plant In North Carolina Creating Almost 2,000 Jobs\">skilled workforce<\/a>, support for growth and scale-up of small manufacturers and strengthening supply chains were identified in the analysis.  <\/p>\n<p>The state is the leader on the East Coast and among the Southeast. With <a href=\"https:\/\/ncmep.org\/about\/manufacturing-matters\/#:~:text=North%20Carolina%20ranks%206th%20in,(2021%20data%2C%20BEA).\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>more than 10,000 manufacturing firms<\/strong><\/a>, North Carolina is sixth nationally in contribution to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-official-trump-crushes-record-for-largest-gdp-increase-in-us-history-3rd-quarter-gdp-up-33-1\/\" title=\"IT'S OFFICIAL: Trump Crushes Record for Largest GDP Increase in US History -- 3rd Quarter GDP Up 33.1%\">gross domestic product<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom advanced manufacturing to biomanufacturing, North Carolina offers a diverse and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/north-carolinians-deserve-good-doctors-not-woke-political-activists\/\" title=\"North Carolinians Deserve Good Doctors, Not Woke Political Activists\">highly skilled workforce<\/a> of more than 472,000,\u201d said Machelle Baker Sanders, secretary of the Commerce Department.<\/p>\n<p>She said the state needs to expand \u201cwork-based learning opportunities\u201d to secure its spot in competition with other states. It is also imperative to support the needs of employers.<\/p>\n<p>Phil Mintz, executive director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership, said the conference itself opens the door for dialogue between companies, exhibitors and participants. There\u2019s great focus on innovation, technology and improvements.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.commerce.nc.gov\/best-practices-growing-manufacturing-north-carolina\/open\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>report describes adoption of industry 4.0 technologies<\/strong><\/a> as \u201cbetter enabling North Carolina manufacturers to overcome financial, technological, and capacity barriers to embrace new technologies.\u201d Suggestions include technology investments, initiating public-private innovation hubs and enhancing \u201ccybersecurity education\u201d and support.<\/p>\n<p>Workforce development, the report says, is bolstered by the state \u201cfostering partnerships between educational institutions and the manufacturing industry, enhancing technical education, and expanding apprenticeship and work-based learning opportunities.\u201d Often, community colleges style course offerings to partner with new manufacturing companies.<\/p>\n<p>Small and medium-sized enterprises, the report says, are pivotal to a supportive ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>On supply chains, the report encourages manufacturers to \u201csource materials and services within North Carolina,\u201d and to enhance supply chain visibility and collaboration.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A recent report outlines key priorities for North Carolina&#8217;s manufacturing sector, emphasizing the adoption of industry 4.0 technologies and fostering industry growth.
