An auction scheduled for June\u200d 20 presents various possibilities, including a new buyer,\u2062 lenders taking \u2063control, or renegotiation of terms.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 14, 2024 at 5:17pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Roughly two years after the Trump Organization sold the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., the buyer is facing foreclosure.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump Organization bought the rights to develop what is known as the Old Post Office, located a few blocks from the White House, in 2012, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trump.com\/hotels\/trump-international-hotel-washington-dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump Organization\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On May 11, 2022, CGI Merchant Group bought the property, saying it would rebrand it as a Waldorf Astoria.<\/p>\n<p>However, CGI has since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/interest-rates-skyrocket-20-year-record-creating-grim-outlook-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">defaulted<\/a> on the mortgage from the deal an affidavit filed with the D.C. Recorder of Deeds said, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bisnow.com\/washington-dc\/news\/hotel\/former-trump-hotel-headed-for-foreclosure-with-253m-in-debt-124242\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bisnow<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It says that $252.7 million remains owed.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Breaking: Waldorf Astoria, former Trump International Hotel in D.C., could be sold at foreclosure auction <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/I2WgQ09ked\">https:\/\/t.co\/I2WgQ09ked<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 John Solomon (@jsolomonReports) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jsolomonReports\/status\/1790380528358531306?\">May 14, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/better-than-expected-u-s-economy-added-638000-jobs-in-october-unemployment-dropped-to-6-9\/\" title=\"Better Than Expected: U.S. Economy Added 638,000 Jobs in October, Unemployment Dropped to 6.9%\">federal government<\/a> still owns the location.<\/p>\n<p>CGI paid $375 million for the lease rights, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/real-estate\/trumps-sale-of-d-c-hotel-proved-prescient-as-new-owner-defaults-on-loan-64c0256a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wall Street Journal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Donald Trump buy back the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-blm-sent-millions-to-canada-charity-for-mansion-formerly-owned-by-communist-party\/\" title=\"Report: BLM Sent Millions to Canada Charity for Mansion Formerly Owned by Communist Party\">historic property<\/a>?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Journal reported in February that CGI defaulted on a $285 loan connected with the property.<\/p>\n<p>The Journal report said that higher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/inflation-unexpectedly-climbs-even-higher-throwing-federal-reserves-interest-rate-decision-question\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interest rates<\/a> and the price CGI paid the Trump Organization were factors in CGI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-unemployment-numbers-take-biggest-jump-months-federal-reserve-continues-hike-interest-rates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">missing its payments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The former Trump Hotel DC is now going to go back on the market.
