Handy and four others \u200dstaged a \u2064peaceful sit-in, charged under the Freedom of Access to \u200cClinic Entrances Act.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/pro-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-faces-backlash-over-pro-abortion-pick-for-hhs-secy\/\" title=\"Joe Biden faces backlash over pro-abortion pick for HHS Secy\">pro-life activist<\/a><\/a> was sentenced to over four years in prison for her role in a protest at a Washington, D.C., abortion facility in October 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lauren Handy was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thomasmoresociety.org\/news\/peaceful-pro-life-advocate-lauren-handy-faces-miscarriage-of-justice-sentenced-to-57-months-in-prison\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">given<\/a> 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release after she was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/anger-erupts-after-biden-doj-gets-5-pro-life-activists-convicted-thrown-in-jail\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">convicted<\/a> on charges of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act and conspiracy against rights. Handy was one of five pro-life advocates prosecuted by the Biden administration after they staged a sit-in at the D.C.-based Washington Surgi-Clinic late-term abortion facility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">During the protest, the pro-life protesters sang songs, prayed, locked arms in front of the facility\u2019s staff entrance, and attached themselves with ropes and chains to block doors inside the building.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Handy, 30, was represented by the Thomas More Society, which promised to appeal the sentence. She was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, a Bill Clinton appointee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere was only one thing around which Ms. Handy and her co-defendants were unified, and that was nonviolence,\u201d said Thomas More Senior Counsel Martin Cannon. \u201cThey conspired to be peaceful. Yet, today, the Court granted the Biden Department of Justice its wish by sentencing Ms. Handy to 57 months \u2014 nearly 5 years in prison. For her efforts to peacefully protect the lives of innocent preborn human beings, Ms. Handy deserves thanks, not a gut-wrenching prison sentence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The other demonstrators convicted include John Hinshaw, 67, Heather Idoni, 61, William Goodman, 52, and Herb Geraghty, 25. Hinshaw was sentenced to 21 months in prison with the others also set to be sentenced on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI am sorry to this court that it has failed in its vocation to protect its nation\u2019s children,\u201d Hinshaw <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LilaGraceRose\/status\/1790450281244963124\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> the court. \u201cI stand convicted, though guiltless. I take on the guilt of this judge. Accept my love for you, judge, as expiation for your guilt.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In March 2022, authorities were called to the home of Handy to recover the bodies of five <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/anger-erupts-after-biden-doj-gets-5-pro-life-activists-convicted-thrown-in-jail\/\" title=\"Outrage as Biden DOJ Convicts and Incarcerates 5 Pro-Life Activists.\">premie-size aborted babies<\/a>. Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) activists previously <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaryMargOlohan\/status\/1790461280009982275\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> that <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">they found the box of aborted babies that was on its way from Washington Surgi Clinic to Curtis Bay Medical Waste Facility to be incinerated.
