The SBA faces scrutiny \u2062for lack\u200c of cooperation with the committees.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>EXCLUSIVE \u2014<\/strong><em> <\/em>The top <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republicans<\/a> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/section\/news\/house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"House\">House<\/a> and Senate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sbc.senate.gov\/public\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Small Business committees<\/a> are calling on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/small-business-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"agency\">Small Business Administration<\/a> to comply with oversight after they launched an investigation into potential electioneering activities. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe House and Senate Committees on Small Business have a constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the SBA,\u201d Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) said in a joint statement shared with the <em>Washington Examiner.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo little surprise, Biden\u2019s SBA has continued to stonewall and ignore legitimate requests from both Committees. We are extremely disappointed that the agency has chosen this path, nevertheless, we\u2019re not stopping our joint efforts to get answers on behalf of the American people,\u201d they added. <\/p>\n<p>The House committee, led by Williams, subpoenaed SBA chief of staff Arthur Plews and adviser Tyler Robinson after the two did not attend a scheduled interview and failed to turn over documents the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lawmakers-ask-for-details-from-american-scientists-who-studied-bat-coronaviruses-in-wuhan-before-the-pandemic\/\" title=\"Lawmakers Ask For Details From American Scientists Who Studied Bat Coronaviruses In Wuhan Before The Pandemic\">committee requested<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The investigation is surrounding SBA\u2019s collaboration with the Michigan Department of State on a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/article\/2024\/03\/19\/sba-administrator-guzman-announces-agencys-first-ever-voter-registration-agreement-michigan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> program<\/a> \u201cto promote civic engagement and voter registration in Michigan,\u201d according to a press release that came out last month. The Michigan Department of State would generate a link for SBA to use to drive online visitors to register to vote. The agency\u2019s Michigan field office would also allow officials to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-small-business-administration-head-under-fire-for-politically-motivated-travel\/\" title=\"Biden's SBA Chief Criticized for Allegedly Political Travel\">hold voter registration events<\/a>. The outreach effort comes as President Joe Biden\u2019s campaign focuses on Michigan as a critical state to win.<\/p>\n<p>Ernst, the ranking member on the panel in the upper chamber, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/725951253\/2024-4-19-Ranking-Ernst-Letter-to-Administrator-Guzman-Re-Travel-and-Policy-Decisions-Information-Request\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>recently sent a letter <\/a>to SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/2976771\/biden-small-business-administrator-joni-ernst\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>demanding answers<\/a> after an undercover video <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JamesOKeefeIII\/status\/1780687148527579215\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>was posted on X<\/a> by a conservative video activist showing an adviser talking about how \u201cGuzman travels across the country to help elect Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ernst sent the letter last month, demanding more information from Guzman, looking into whether the agency violated the Hatch Act, which was intended to stop the federal government from affecting elections or acting in a partisan manner. The law applies to federal employees as well as state and local employees who work with federally funded programs. <\/p>\n<p>In addition, Ernst has requested the SBA inspector general look into telework abuse after the Government Accountability Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ernst.senate.gov\/news\/press-releases\/ernst-unveils-naughty-list-of-no-show-federal-agencies\">found<\/a> only 9% of employees were working in the office. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must ensure the SBA is focused solely on helping America\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-michigan-house-member-files-to-impeach-governor-gretchen-whitmer\/\" title=\"BREAKING: Michigan House Member Files to Impeach Governor Gretchen Whitmer\">small businesses<\/a>, not working to campaign or swing votes by conducting and participating in outside political activities,\u201d the lawmakers added in their statement. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese potential violations demand immediate attention.
