He has pleaded not guilty, maintaining that while he struggled with an addiction to crack cocaine during that period in 2018, he did not break the law.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-sues-irs-cries-that-whistleblowers-sought-to-embarrass-him-using-tax-returns\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden sues IRS, claims whistleblowers aimed to shame him with tax returns.\">facing tax charges<\/a> in a California case set to go to trial in late June.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden\u2019s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, justified the request for a delay by saying the defense is seeking expert testimony, but those who they have approached have been hesitant to testify due to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/devin-nunes-on-life-after-congress-elon-musk-and-big-tech-censorship\/\" title=\"Devin Nunes On Life After Congress, Elon Musk, And Big Tech Censorship\">high-profile nature<\/a> of the case. Prosecutor Derek Hines rejected the idea that national attention is to blame.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s written in his memoir, he was in active addiction,\u201d Hines said. \u201cI don\u2019t know what expert they can find who will say he wasn\u2019t.
