We will do everything possible to reopen Top Thrill 2 as soon as we are confident we can deliver the ride experience that our guests deserve,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Cedar Point representative Tony Clark did not provide further details, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland.com\/entertainment\/2024\/05\/whats-wrong-with-cedar-points-top-thrill-2-heres-what-we-know.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cleveland.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Would a mechanical issue stop you from riding this roller coaster?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWith the level of sophistication and technology involved, it\u2019s not unusual when a ride is introduced, if it has any issues, to bring it down, get it fixed and get it ready for the prime season,\u201d industry consultant Dennis Speigel, the founder of International Theme Park Services in Cincinnati, said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve taken the right plan of action. This is what you do. You don\u2019t want issues like they had a few years ago,\u201d he said, referring to a 2021 incident in which a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/us-rollercoaster-shut-man-records-proof-fatal-flaw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piece of metal<\/a> flew off the ride and injured a woman below<\/p>\n<p>Jeff Putz, co-founder of the Cedar Point fan site\u00a0Pointbuzz.com, said he thought there was some \u201cshimmy\u201d in his preview ride, but said the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/man-catches-strangers-cellphone-mid-air-roller-coaster-ride\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> fix<\/a> is not all that unusual.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">TOP THRILL 2 IS ABSOLUTELY NUTS <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5bS0JfZKZI\">pic.twitter.com\/5bS0JfZKZI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 caleb (@calebo56) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/calebo56\/status\/1787535952258236453?\">May 6, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cTypically in any engineering process, there are things that you can simulate and some things you can\u2019t before you make a thing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new ride has been operating pretty consistently, and it sounds like Zamperla discovered something that they didn\u2019t like. It could be something simple, like wear and tear that they didn\u2019t anticipate, or that wouldn\u2019t show up during testing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The ride boasts a \u201ctriple launch\u201d feature that gives riders three chances to feel the roller coaster rush.<\/p>\n<p>As a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cedarpoint.com\/blog\/media-center\/get-revvved-up-in-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news release<\/a> for the ride issued last year explained:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the start, using an all-new linear synchronous motor (LSM) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rumored-biden-nom-for-nasa-administrator-out-of-touch-experts-say\/\" title=\"Rumored Biden Nom for NASA Administrator Out of Touch, Experts Say\">launch system<\/a>, riders will peel out down the straightaway reaching speeds of 74 mph, racing toward the sky on Top Thrill 2\u2019s original 420-foot-tall \u201ctop hat\u201d tower. After experiencing weightlessness during the \u201crollback\u201d \u2013 the coveted fan-favorite moment when the train\u2019s momentum isn\u2019t great enough to make it up and over the tower \u2013 the train shifts into reverse and into its second launch, reaching speeds of 101 mph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRiders will then see Cedar Point unlike ever before as they speed into a backward climb at a 90-degree angle on a new, 420-foot-tall track tower. After a second moment of weightlessness, the train shifts into drive and races forward into its third launch, clocking in at the ride\u2019s top speed of 120 mph.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In other words, it\u2019s not for the faint of heart.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/accident-six-flags-intense-el-toro-roller-coaster-injures-13-riders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ride<\/a> has already drawn criticism because of its safety rules, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinemablend.com\/theme-parks\/cedar-points-newest-roller-coaster-was-already-controversial-and-now-its-closed-after-barely-a-week\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CinemaBlend<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No loose items are allowed, which means phones, keys and other items either have to be left with someone not riding the coaster or put in a locker.<\/p>\n<p>However, lockers near Top Thrill 2 are not available for free, meaning guests who don\u2019t have a non-riding companion to hold their belongings, would have to pay for following the rules.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
