Once the ship is removed, maritime traffic can begin returning to normal.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q7P2oe6RYQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/q7P2oe6RYQ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hcVsvDOHMK\">pic.twitter.com\/hcVsvDOHMK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FOX 5 DC (@fox5dc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fox5dc\/status\/1790127244645437606?\">May 13, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Steel that had been pre-cut and charged with explosives fell into the water and will be lifted and placed onto barges, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wbaltv.com\/article\/key-bridge-demolition-explosive-precision-cuts-baltimore\/60776230\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WBAL-TV<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>While Monday\u2019s demolition was successful, more remnants of the bridge span remained aboard the deck of the ship and in the Patapsco River.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining wreckage will be removed at a safe pace, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re going to have to lift it with the grabber or they\u2019ll be removing it after cutting it down some more, but we\u2019re continuing the salvage operations in the same methodical and disciplined safe way we\u2019ve been removing wreckage all along,\u201d said Col. Estee Pinchasin, according to WBAL.<\/p>\n<p>Some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-opens-criminal-investigation-baltimore-bridge-collapse-boards-ship\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wreckage<\/a> was left on the ship\u2019s deck because of concerns about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/investigators-764-tons-hazardous-material-involved-baltimore-bridge-disaster-spilled-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hazardous materials<\/a> still onboard.<\/p>\n<p>The 21 crew members aboard the Dali remained below deck during Monday\u2019s controlled explosion. The men have been aboard the vessel since it left the port on March 26 and collided with the bridge.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is to refloat the ship and bring it into the harbor by the end of the week so that shipping traffic to and from the busy port can return to normal for the first time since the bridge collapsed and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/split-second-decision-hero-police-officers-saved-numerous-lives-baltimore-bridge-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed the lives<\/a> of six road workers.<\/p>\n<p>The men were repairing potholes on the structure when the Dali experienced electrical issues and struck a support beam in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Ship collides with Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, causing it to collapse <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/OcOrSjOCRn\">pic.twitter.com\/OcOrSjOCRn<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BNO News (@BNONews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BNONews\/status\/1772515766929097088?\">March 26, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/baltimore-bridge-span-removed-ship-freed-precision-blast-rcna152065\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported the Army Corps of Engineers was working with the U.S. Coast Guard, the Maryland State Police and other law enforcement and government agencies to reopen the port.<\/p>\n<p>Democratic Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said Monday that the slow, methodical approach to removing the bridge\u2019s remnants is about ensuring no one else is injured or killed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a best practice,\u201d Moore said at a news conference. \u201cSafety in this operation is our top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sudden-deaths-2-boeing-whistleblowers-10-stepping-forward-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Engineers<\/a> were waiting for high tide on Tuesday to assist them in towing the vessel to the harbor, where it will be repaired, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5dc.com\/news\/baltimore-key-bridge-collapse-controlled-demolition-scheduled-for-monday\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Of the estimated 50,000 tons of steel and concrete that plunged into the river when the bridge came down, only an estimated 6,000 tons had been removed as of Monday.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
