Trump proposed raising $1 billion for his re-election campaign to overturn Biden&#8217;s regulations. Promising to support\u200d the oil industry, Trump\u2062 vowed to undo Biden&#8217;s policies and\u200c open new opportunities. The meeting highlighted contrasting energy approaches, with Trump advocating for oil \u200binterests.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/sshort\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/sshort\/%20\"><span>Samuel Short<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 14, 2024 at 7:56am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump made a bold offer to oil executives as November approaches.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/05\/09\/trump-oil-industry-campaign-money\/?utm_campaign=wp_main&#038;utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a> reported that Trump met with top oil executives last month at Mar-a-Lago. During the meeting he heard complaints from his guests \u2014 a list of about 24, including names like Mike Sabel, the CEO and founder of Venture Global, and Jack Fusco, the CEO of Cheniere Energy \u2014 about President Joe Biden\u2019s environmental regulations, despite the Biden administration paying $400 million to lobby their causes over the last year.<\/p>\n<p>What was Trump\u2019s reply? Raise a $1 billion dollars to send him back to the White House this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/gov-brian-kemp-may-just-given-georgia-trump-2024-election-signs-new-election-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">November<\/a>, according to anonymous sources with knowledge of the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>In doing so, Trump promised to reverse many of Biden\u2019s environmental policies and block new ones from being enacted. Additionally, Trump reportedly promised an end to Biden\u2019s freeze on permits for new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-sen-ron-johnson-talks-to-voters-about-skyrocketing-gas-prices-in-wisconsin\/\" title=\"Video: Sen. Ron Johnson Talks to Voters About Skyrocketing Gas Prices in Wisconsin\">liquefied natural gas exports<\/a>, saying, \u201cYou\u2019ll get it on the first day.\u201d Trump called this offer a \u201cdeal,\u201d per the Post, \u201cbecause of the taxation and regulation [the executives] would avoid thanks to him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As usual, Trump was bold, blunt, and to the point. He framed himself as the oil candidate as we near the end of a term that\u2019s been the complete opposite.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s Department of the Interior recently blocked drilling across 13 million acres in the Alaskan Arctic, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/climate-environment\/2024\/04\/19\/drilling-alaska-national-petroleum-reserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Post<\/a>. In March, he introduced a mandate on new cars being electric. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/03\/20\/climate\/epa-biden-electric-cars\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN reported<\/a> that under this mandate, 35 \u2013 56 percent of new car sales in 2032 will be electric.<\/p>\n<p>Once again, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-campaign-blasts-bidens-new-extreme-electric-vehicle-mandate-promises-day-one-reversal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump promised<\/a> he would reverse this mandate on his first day in office.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also stated at the same meeting in April that he would be auctioning off leases for oil drilling in the Gulf of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mexico-breaks-diplomatic-ties-ecuador-major-division-forms-central-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mexico<\/a>, while also reasserting his opposition to Biden\u2019s EV mandate, calling it \u201cridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With how vexing the situation under Biden has been after he overturned 27 of Trump\u2019s policies targeting fossil fuels and passed 24 new ones, you could not blame the former president for being bold in his offer.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Does America need an oil friendly president?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Oil companies are hearing from Trump, \u201cBiden is against you. I\u2019m with you. It\u2019s that simple. Help me win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This position is not just reserved for private audiences.<\/p>\n<p>At Fundraiser on Saturday in Palm Beach, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jeff-bezos-60m-investment-undercut-ron-desantis-florida-governor-signs-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Florida<\/a>, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum stated, \u201cWhat would be the Number 1 thing that President Trump could do on Day 1? It\u2019s stop the hostile attack against all American energy, and I mean all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burgum, who has been tapped as a candidate for secretary of energy should Trump prevail in November, has played an important role in the Trump campaign\u2019s energy policy. In chastising Biden\u2019s approach to energy, Burgum said, \u201cWhether it\u2019s baseload electricity, whether it\u2019s oil, whether it\u2019s gas, whether it\u2019s ethanol, there is an attack on liquid fuels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Burgum is right. The numbers don\u2019t lie.<\/p>\n<p>According to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/hist\/LeafHandler.ashx?n=pet&#038;s=emm_epmr_pte_nus_dpg&#038;f=m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> U.S. Energy Information Administration<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/analysis-bidens-lofty-climate-goals-collide-with-political-economic-reality\/\" title=\"Analysis: Biden\u2019s Lofty Climate Goals Collide With Political, Economic Reality\">retail gas prices<\/a> per gallon for the month of December 2020 \u2014 Trump\u2019s last full month in office \u2014 stood at $2.195. Gas prices under Biden have so far peaked at $4.929 dollars per gallon for June 2022. For April 2024, that number sits at $3.611.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Trump, Biden campaign spokesman Ammar Moussa made the following statement: \u201cDonald Trump is selling out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-sanders-dems-have-votes-to-pass-partisan-covid-19-relief\/\" title=\"Sen. Sanders: Dems have votes to pass partisan COVID-19 relief\">working families<\/a> to Big Oil for campaign checks. It\u2019s that simple. It doesn\u2019t matter to Trump that oil and gas companies charge working families and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/revealed-much-earn-considered-middle-class-state\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">middle-class<\/a> Americans whatever they want while raking in record profits \u2014 if Donald can cash a check, he\u2019ll do what they say.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Granted, its politically advantageous to frame Trump\u2019s relationship with donors like this. The Biden campaign needs Trump to be a corrupt politician from the Gilded Age that has John D. Rockefeller in his back pocket, so they can be the progressives here to save the day.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, it\u2019s Trump\u2019s pro-oil stance that <em>will <\/em>save the day. Biden has made gas outrageously expensive.
