Emmanuel<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 14, 2024 at 8:11am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The evidence keeps piling up that we were right all along \u2014 the medical and scientific elite unfairly targeted the drug ivermectin during the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-democrats-made-covid-19-pandemic-even-worse-small-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, former CNN host Chris Cuomo, who had openly mocked ivermectin users on the air in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-former-cnn-host-admits-using-ivermectin-saying-users-shamed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">admitted<\/a> that he is on a \u201cregular dose\u201d of the much-maligned drug to deal with the \u201clingering effects\u201d of an infection.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fda-says-bird-flu-virus-found-milk-grocery-store-shelves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a> agreed to delete several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media posts<\/a> and other statements dismissing the use of ivermectin as a COVID-19 treatment after settling a lawsuit brought by three doctors, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/fda-settles-lawsuit-over-ivermectin-social-media-posts-1882562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement required the FDA to remove claims that ivermectin is strictly a drug for animals and not fit for human use against COVID-19. This included retiring a consumer update titled \u201cWhy You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19\u201d from its website.<\/p>\n<p>The agency also committed to deleting social media posts such as one that said, \u201cYou are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y\u2019all. Stop it,\u201d aiming to dissuade Americans from taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ftc-asks-judge-to-hold-martin-shkreli-in-contempt-for-forming-new-drug-company\/\" title=\"FTC Asks Judge to Hold Martin Shkreli in Contempt for Forming New Drug Company\">anti-parasitic medication<\/a> for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u201cYou are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y\u2019all. Mary Talley Bowden, Paul Marik and Robert Apter, who argued that the FDA\u2019s statements interfered with their ability to practice medicine.<\/p>\n<p>While a lower court initially dismissed the case, citing the FDA\u2019s sovereign immunity, an appeals court allowed it to proceed, ruling that the \u201cFDA is not a physician\u201d and that even \u201ctweet-sized medical advice\u201d exceeds its statutory authority, according to Newsweek.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA opted to settle the lawsuit rather than continue litigating statements that are now between 2 and 4 years old. However, it maintained that large clinical trials have not demonstrated ivermectin\u2019s efficacy against COVID-19, and the agency has not admitted any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>Ivermectin\u2019s proponents, including podcast host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mma-fighter-rants-disney-ruining-star-wars-joe-rogans-podcast\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Rogan<\/a>, who sparred with CNN\u2019s Sanjay Gupta after being accused of taking a \u201chorse dewormer,\u201d celebrated the settlement as a victory.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>WARNING: The following post contains vulgar language that some viewers may find offensive.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Joe Rogan SNAPS on FDA\u2019s Orwellian Lie About Ivermectin<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s for humans too, you f*cking idiot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is in response to the FDA\u2019s infamous tweet: \u201cYou are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously, y\u2019all. Stop it.\u201d<br \/> FDA: We won\u2019t admit we did anything wrong, but we will take down the infamous ad about the horse and the cow. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/hLBs9uHxXS\">https:\/\/t.co\/hLBs9uHxXS<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dr My Le Trinh \u2013 Suspended because of ivermectin (@myletrinh123) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/myletrinh123\/status\/1776733094147731675?\">April 6, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Major medical organizations such as the American Pharmacists Association, American Society of Health System Pharmacists and American Medical Association, which had issued a joint statement condemning doctors who prescribed the drug for COVID-19, retracted it.<\/p>\n<p>With the FDA now backpedaling on its opposition to the drug, they were left without any evidentiary backing for their position, according to a column by Dr. David Gortler published Saturday on the website of the <a href=\"https:\/\/brownstone.org\/articles\/medical-elites-disgrace-over-ivermectin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brownstone Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the wake of the FDA settling a lawsuit brought against it for wantonly and aggressively smearing ivermectin, the agency has deleted its postings,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThat\u2019s good, but we shouldn\u2019t forget how egregiously it mischaracterized the drug, ignored copious evidence in its favor, and portrayed its proponents as dangerous crackpots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to his <a href=\"https:\/\/brownstone.org\/author\/david-gortler\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">author\u2019s bio<\/a>, Gortler, a 2023 Brownstone Fellow, is a \u201cpharmacologist, pharmacist, research scientist and a former member of the FDA Senior Executive Leadership Team who served as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-campaign-senior-advisor-steve-cortes-the-statistical-case-against-a-joe-biden-election-win\/\" title=\"Trump Campaign Senior Advisor Steve Cortes: The Statistical Case Against a Joe Biden Election Win\">senior advisor<\/a> to the FDA Commissioner on matters of: FDA regulatory affairs, drug safety and FDA science policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a former Yale University and Georgetown University didactic professor of pharmacology and biotechnology, with over a decade of academic pedagogy and bench research, as part of his nearly two decades of experience in drug development,\u201d it says. \u201cHe also serves as a scholar at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The retractions might be vindication for many who supported more research into the drug they believed could save lives during one of the world\u2019s worst pandemics, but it is too little, too late.<\/p>\n<p>Who knows how many lives could have been saved if doctors had been allowed to consider an \u201call of the above\u201d approach rather than being vilified for even considering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fda-forced-walk-back-smug-anti-ivermectin-post-makes-huge-admission-drug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ivermectin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ivermectin has been long approved for various human applications both in topical form \u2014 to treat conditions such as lice and rosacea \u2014 and as an oral tablet prescribed for parasitic worms, intestinal strongyloidiasis and onchocerciasis, according to Newsweek.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors who defied the orthodoxy were vilified as conspiracy theorists and hucksters. Many saw their careers and reputations shattered through online harassment, job losses and licensure threats simply for exploring ivermectin and other alternatives, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-right-study-shows-hydroxychloroquine-boosted-ventilated-covid-patients-survival-200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hydroxychloroquine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While we are not declaring ivermectin or any other drug to be a miracle cure, the choice should have been left to patients and doctors, especially in cases where the patient was facing death.<\/p>\n<p>According to Gortler, the anti-ivermectin rhetoric also conveniently aligned with the promotion of lucrative new pharmaceutical products such as the exorbitantly priced, taxpayer-funded Paxlovid and Remdesivir.<\/p>\n<p>Remdesivir was deemed so supposedly \u201csafe and effective\u201d that hospitals received a staggering 20 percent bonus payment on the entire hospital bill from the federal government as an incentive for nurses, doctors and administrators to push its use.<\/p>\n<p>However, Remdesivir quickly gained the nickname \u201crun-death-is-near\u201d among nurses and others because of doubts about its actual clinical benefits, Gortler wrote.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you believe money played a role in the elite\u2019s attempts to discredit ivermectin?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe past and current record on ivermectin needs to be set straight. We know there is an important (but untransparent) list of who is <em>responsible<\/em> for misrepresenting published data, but will anyone be held <em>accountable<\/em>?\u201d he said in conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Merely taking down some social media posts doesn\u2019t answer the question of why federal agencies and professional medical organizations chose to take such a hard stance against a drug that has been widely used in the past.<\/p>\n<p>It may take another administration to seriously look into these failures and hold those who caused them accountable.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
