It was an eye-roll for me, people bashing the superhero space,\u201d the 40-year-old \u201cThor\u201d actor said during a recently published <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/chris-hemsworth-alzheimers-interview-mad-max-gw7kb8tvs\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">interview<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  with U.K.-based outlet The Times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hemsworth went on to point out how even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/6-conservative-comedians-who-arent-afraid-to-mock-the-lefts-insanity\/\" title=\"6 Conservative Comedians Who Aren\u2019t Afraid To Mock The Left\u2019s Insanity\">industry greats<\/a> have failures. \u201cThose guys had films that didn\u2019t work too \u2014 we all have. When they talked about what was wrong with superheroes, I thought, cool, tell that to the billions who watch them. Were they all wrong?\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cCinema-going did not change because of superheroes, but because of smartphones and social media. Superhero films actually kept people in the cinemas during that transition, and now people are coming back. So they deserve a little more appreciation,\u201d Hemsworth said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Scorsese authored an op-ed published in the New York Times in 2019 titled \u201cMartin Scorsese: I Said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/marvel\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marvel<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  Movies Aren\u2019t Cinema. Let Me Explain.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThere\u2019s worldwide audiovisual entertainment, and there\u2019s cinema,\u201d the \u201cGoodfellas\u201d director <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/martin-scorsese-shreds-marvel-movies-says-theyre-not-cinema\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">wrote<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  in the piece. \u201cThey still overlap from time to time, but that\u2019s becoming increasingly rare. And I fear that the financial dominance of one is being used to marginalize and even belittle the existence of the other.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added, \u201cFor anyone who dreams of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tom-cruise-breaks-silence-on-famed-mission-impossible-covid-rant-i-said-what-i-said\/\" title=\"Tom Cruise Breaks Silence On Famed \u2018Mission: Impossible\u2019 COVID Rant: \u2018I Said What I Said\u2019\">making movies<\/a> or who is just starting out, the situation at this moment is brutal and inhospitable to art. And the act of simply writing those words fills me with terrible sadness.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coppola, director of \u201cThe Godfather,\u201d agreed with that assessment. He sparked controversy in October 2019 when he <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/francis-ford-coppola-backs-scorsese-marvel-movies-are-despicable\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, \u201cWhen Martin Scorsese says that the Marvel pictures are not cinema, he\u2019s right, because we expect to learn something from cinema, we expect to gain something, some enlightenment, some knowledge, some inspiration. I don\u2019t know that anyone gets anything out of seeing the same movie over and over again. Martin was kind when he said it\u2019s not cinema. Humility goes a long way. One of the older actors on \u2018Home and Away\u2019 said, \u2018We don\u2019t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.\u2019 That stuck with me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He continued, \u201cBut hey, it\u2019s all a lesson. And if I ever went back to [\u2018Thor\u2019] I\u2019d wonder how we could change it again. But there is a superhero curse in the sense you get pigeonholed, and I\u2019ve felt a little hamstrung with what I could do, so [I] desperately wanted something to scare the s*** out of me.
