Despite a gag order on Trump, Republicans like Vance shed \u2064light on potential biases in the trial. J. D. Vance reminded the public on Monday that the judge overseeing the Manhattan lawfare case against former President Donald Trump has a daughter who is a Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-grants-26-pardons-and-3-commutations-includes-numerous-prominent-names\/\" title=\"Trump Grants 26 Pardons And 3 Commutations, Includes Numerous Prominent Names\">political operative<\/a>. It\u2019s an entirely true statement, yet it\u2019s one Trump is prohibited from making himself thanks to a gag order from partisan Judge Juan Merchan \u2014 which is why congressional Republicans must show up daily to serve as a voice for the former president and 2024 front-runner. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe thing that the president is prevented from saying, which is a disgrace, is that every <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ag-garland-to-make-statement-on-mar-a-lago-raid\/\" title=\"AG Garland to Make Statement on Mar-a-Lago Raid\">single person involved<\/a> in this prosecution is practically a Democratic political operative. The judge inside, his daughter is making millions of dollars running against Donald Trump, raising money for Donald Trump\u2019s political opponents,\u201d Vance said outside the courthouse. Notably, Judge Merchan himself donated to Biden\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-774999971\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ef59c200c642e48056f3b297f1b65aa7 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ef59c200c642e48056f3b297f1b65aa7\"><\/div>\n<p>Vance\u2019s comments echoed those of Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who joined Trump last week when pornographer Stormy Daniels took the stand. Scott also noted that the daughter of the judge overseeing the case \u201cis a political operative and raises money for Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Merchan\u2019s daughter, Loren Merchan, is reportedly president of the Chicago-based political consulting firm Authentic Campaigns, whose clients include Russia hoaxer Adam Schiff and the Senate Majority PAC. Both Schiff and the Senate Majority PAC have used the Manhattan-based indictment against Trump to fundraise, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/30\/us-news\/dem-clients-of-daughter-of-judge-in-trump-trial-raised-90m-off-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York Post<\/a>. Loren Merchan also worked for Vice President Kamala Harris\u2019 presidential campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Judge Merchan has refused to recuse himself despite requests from Trump\u2019s team. <\/p>\n<p>Vance\u2019s appearance came on the same day that convicted felon Michael Cohen took the stand. Cohen lied to a Senate committee in 2017, then pleaded guilty in 2018 to lying to Congress. He also told the public he did not commit tax evasions \u201cdespite having told a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">federal judge<\/a>, U.S. District Judge William Pauley, in court that he had,\u201d Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/04\/14\/michael-cohen-credibility-trump-trial-00152122\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. Federal prosecutors said they had \u201csubstantial concerns about Cohen\u2019s credibility as a witness\u201d and that after Cohen was sentenced, he \u201cmade material false statements\u201d while meeting with prosecutors and the FBI, Politico reported. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7c8027b34e549486a5c6fa294861ad02 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7c8027b34e549486a5c6fa294861ad02\"><\/div>\n<p>But Trump is prohibited from noting those facts as well, meaning he <em>needs <\/em>fellow Republicans like Vance and others to remind the public that the so-called justice system is corrupted by partisan actors, including the lead prosecutor, Alvin Bragg, who campaigned on targeting Trump once in office. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes any reasonable, sensible person believe anything that Michael Cohen says? I don\u2019t think that they should,\u201d Vance rightfully asked during his press briefing. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo all the American voters and American people who are watching this, the one opportunity you get to speak up against this sham prosecution and to say the American people elect their president, not corrupt DNC prosecutors, is to vote for Donald Trump in November,\u201d Vance said. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., and Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., also appeared alongside Vance, with Tuberville decrying the \u201cmental anguish\u201d being \u201cpushed on\u201d Trump.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eac02bee656fb13e358720b99aab1e38 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-eac02bee656fb13e358720b99aab1e38\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is New York City, the icon of our country, and we got a courtroom that\u2019s the most depressing thing I\u2019ve ever been in,\u201d Tuberville said. \u201cMental anguish is trying to be pushed on Republican candidate for the president of the United States this year \u2014 that\u2019s all this is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trio\u2019s appearance at the courthouse brings the grand total of Republican members of Congress who have visited Manhattan to witness the political persecution of Trump to four. <\/p>\n<p>Unity among Republicans in the face of lawfare has been sorely absent \u2014 despite there being a total of 49 Republican senators and 217 Republican representatives, including 10 total from New York. <\/p>\n<p>The lack of appearances from fellow Republicans, however, though shameful, is not surprising given the near radio silence from GOP Senate leadership, including Mitch McConnell, when Trump was first hit with a series of indictments. <\/p>\n<p>When Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg first indicted Trump on 34 felony counts for which he currently sits in a courthouse, McConnell \u201crefused to condemn the overt weaponization of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">law enforcement<\/a>,\u201d as my colleague Tristan Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/02\/mcconnell-and-his-gop-senate-drones-are-silent-on-trump-indictment-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pointed out<\/a>. When McConnell finally spoke out, he called for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/19\/after-fbi-raids-republicans-last-president-mitch-mcconnell-wants-to-increase-doj-funding\/\">increasing<\/a> funding for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/evidence-mounts-that-capitol-breach-was-pre-planned-eroding-incitement-allegation-in-trump-impeachment-trial\/\" title=\"Evidence Mounts that Capitol Breach Was Pre-Planned, Eroding Incitement Allegation in Trump Impeachment Trial\">federal law enforcement agencies<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>McConnell\u2019s absence was so notable during the second indictment that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/09\/politics\/republicans-congress-reactions-trump-indictment\/index.html\">CNN headlined<\/a> a piece: \u201cOn Trump indictment, Senate GOP leaders silent while top House Republicans vow payback.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Trump was indicted for a third time by Special Counsel Jack Smith, Justice noted that it was Republican Conference Chair John Barrasso of Wyoming acting as the lone wolf in calling out the \u201ctwo-tiered system of justice\u201d and the weaponization of \u201cthe justice system against\u201d a political opponent.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7ccb6f66c876efcb4ab971b68925ce4a fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-7ccb6f66c876efcb4ab971b68925ce4a\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Monday, Ohio Sen.
