Sheindlin stresses the financial repercussions for disseminating untrue narratives.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Judge Judy Files Defamation Suit, Makes It Clear Things Won&#8217;t Be Cheap: &#8216;It&#8217;s Going to Cost You&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ap-reports\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ap-reports\/%20\"><span>The Associated Press<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 13, 2024 at 12:00pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>\u201cJudge Judy\u201d Sheindlin sued the parent company of the National Enquirer and InTouch Weekly on Monday for a story that she said falsely claimed she was trying to help the Menendez brothers get a retrial after they were convicted of murdering their parents.<\/p>\n<p>The story was first published on InTouch Weekly\u2019s website on April 10 under the headline \u201cInside Judge Judy\u2019s Quest to Save the Menendez Brothers Nearly 35 Years After Their Parents\u2019 Murder,\u201d according to the lawsuit, filed in circuit court in Collier County, Florida.<\/p>\n<p>A version of the story later appeared in the National Enquirer, a sister publication to InTouch Weekly also owned by Accelerate360 Media.<\/p>\n<p>The 1989 Menendez murders in Beverly Hills, California, were a case of some tabloid renown.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Menendez Brothers | Beverly Hills Nightmare | Murder Made Me Famous | TCC\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KUMT9uBf9rg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/step-aside-judge-judy-daily-wires-matt-walsh-just-got-reality-court-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheindlin<\/a> said she has had nothing to say about the case.<\/p>\n<p>Her lawsuit speculated that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-73976-ballots-released-by-maricopa-county-56-1-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"BREAKING: 73,976 Ballots Released By Maricopa County \u2014 56.1% FOR DONALD TRUMP\">news outlets<\/a> used statements in a Fox Nation docuseries made by \u201cJudi Ramos,\u201d a woman identified as an alternate juror in the first Menendez trial, and misattributed them to the television judge.<\/p>\n<p>There was no immediate comment from Accelerate360, whose attempt to sell the National Enquirer last year fell through.<\/p>\n<p>The TV judge did not ask for a specific amount of damages but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/uk-govt-lockdown-to-last-12-months-expect-repeated-vaccinations\/\" title=\"UK Govt: Lockdown to Last 12+ Months, Expect Repeated Vaccinations\">made clear<\/a> it wouldn\u2019t be cheap.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you watch &#8220;Judy Justice&#8221;?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen you fabricate stories about me in order to make money for yourselves with no regard for the truth or the reputation I\u2019ve spent a lifetime cultivating, it\u2019s going to cost you,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-judy-make-big-new-hampshire-appearance-trumps-gop-rival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sheindlin<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019ve done it multiple times, it\u2019s unconscionable and will be expensive.
