The Institute for Energy Research counters the \u200cidea of energy scarcity, underscoring the role of property\u2063 rights in enhancing energy output.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/mlandry\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/mlandry\/%20\"><span>Mike Landry<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 13, 2024 at 2:16pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>When are we going to run out of energy?<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t hear that as much as you used to, since Those Who Know Best are working to plug up all our energy sources anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Most energy sources put out carbon dioxide, and that\u2019s going to make all the plants grow and devour us all, or it will heat the planet up and make Minneapolis a desert \u2014 and we\u2019ll all fry.<\/p>\n<p>Or something.<\/p>\n<p>But we don\u2019t hear much any more about running out of energy.<\/p>\n<p>What do the experts say about it?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to the U.S. Energy Information Administration\u2019s (EIA) International Energy Outlook 2023 (IEO2023), the global supply of crude oil, other liquid hydrocarbons, and biofuels is expected to be adequate to meet the world\u2019s demand for liquid fuels through 2050,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/tools\/faqs\/faq.php?id=38&#038;t=6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Energy Information<\/a> web site stated.<\/p>\n<p>Ah, but the site also gave itself an out regarding its predicted bleak future: \u201cThere is substantial uncertainty about the levels of future liquid fuels supply and demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s another way of saying \u2014 \u201cWe don\u2019t really know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And what they\u2019re not saying, but what we know they believe is, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t really make any difference when we\u2019ll run out of energy since we want you all in 15-minute cities in your electric cars and on mass transit; just don\u2019t ask us where the energy for that will come from.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Or something.<\/p>\n<p>And for sure, they\u2019re not putting forth what seems to be the increasingly anti-human agenda of wanting us to freeze in the dark and starve.<\/p>\n<p>But are there other experts besides the U.S. government (the people who four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fauci-publishes-paper-admitting-that-the-covid-vax-doesnt-prevent-infection-or-transmission-of-covid\/\" title=\"Fauci Publishes Paper Admitting that the COVID Vax Doesn't Prevent Infection or Transmission of COVID\">years ago gave<\/a> us those wonderful lessons on public health)?<\/p>\n<p>Indeed there are. And they give us an entirely different picture of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-admin-announces-new-rules-targeting-oil-gas-industries-amid-projected-energy-price-increases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">energy<\/a> supplies.<\/p>\n<p>We should have 227 years of available oil, 130 years of gas, and almost 500 years of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/new-yorker-libs-know-really-feels-city-cracks-coal-wood-fired-pizzerias\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Those are predictions from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instituteforenergyresearch.org\/about\/?gad_source=1&#038;gclid=CjwKCAjw9IayBhBJEiwAVuc3fh7rC4BKPWbryC6y9DXOy70kQeu_I7fFzG5Zlrf5Gdlo4v8Lyyv0qBoCaNUQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute for Energy Research<\/a>, an energy-focused think tank based upon free market principles.<\/p>\n<p>Chicken Little <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/over-half-of-us-at-elevated-risk-of-winter-blackouts-due-to-biden-energy-policies-watchdog-comments-on-industry-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">predictions<\/a> of energy depletion are a ruse to push for alternatives, IER President Tom Pyle told \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/politics-policy\/energy\/exclusive-current-rates-consumption-us-has-more-two-centuries-oil-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Just the News<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst, they said, \u2018We don\u2019t have the resources. We\u2019re big consumers, but we don\u2019t have the energy. So we have to get off of the resource,\u2019\u201d according to Pyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen it became evident and clear that that was not the case,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the U.S. was the biggest energy producer in the world, putting out 13 million barrels of oil per day. And that\u2019s even after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-airlines-suing-biden-administration-warn-newest-move-will-greatly-confuse-customers-complicate-buying-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Biden regime<\/a> throttled production early in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the ongoing drumbeat since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lowest-oil-reserves-since-83-skyrocketing-prices-will-biden-unthinkable\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1970s of running out of oil<\/a>, EIR set out \u201cfor the purpose of shattering this myth of energy scarcity,\u201d with a study released in 2011, the North American Energy Inventory, according to Pyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo my knowledge, prior to that, nobody had taken the effort to compile, using government data \u2026 the amount of energy that we have in North America,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>That 2011 report demonstrated new exploration and production technologies were increasing potential oil reserves.<\/p>\n<p>The oil was there, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-china-county-suspends-fracking-after-earthquakes-kill-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fracking<\/a> and horizontal drilling made it commercially available.<\/p>\n<p>Based on current technologies and rates of consumption and on profitability given today\u2019s economics, North America has 1.66 trillion barrels.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s 15 percent higher than what EIR estimated in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Convert all that crude oil to just gasoline and, at 2023 consumption rates, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jules-this-is-brian-a-visit-to-new-york-citys-9-11-museum\/\" title=\"\u2018Jules, This is Brian\u2019: A Visit to New York City\u2019s 9\/11 Museum\">gasoline-powered cars<\/a> and trucks could be fueled for 539 years.<\/p>\n<p>Natural gas reserves are up 47 percent since 2011 to 4.03 quadrillion feet, good for an estimated 130 years.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S., with the world\u2019s largest proven coal reserves, has enough to last 485 years.<\/p>\n<p>EIR estimates are just for the U.S. and\/or North American; they don\u2019t count energy resources in other parts of the world.<\/p>\n<p>And more good news from EIR: \u201cAs production increases, we find even more of a resource,\u201d according to Pyle.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve always believed that true wealth comes from the ground \u2014 whether grown in agriculture, channeled in water, or mined or pumped out as in energy.<\/p>\n<p>Analysts at Doomberg, which publishes on Substack, would seem to agree, stating that energy-rich economies tend to do better even when overall times are hard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy is not an input into the economy, IT IS THE ECONOMY,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/newsletter.doomberg.com\/p\/atlas-wont-shrug\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Doomberg<\/a> analysts said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHumanity organizes its economic activities to ensure a steady growth in the extraction and exploitation of primary energy because energy is life, standards of living are defined by how much energy is available to be exploited, and all humans everywhere are perpetually seeking a higher standard of living,\u201d according to the analysts.<\/p>\n<p>That, in my judgment, emphasizes the cruelty of global elites wanting Third World nations to save the planet before they save their own health, agriculture, sanitation, transportation and entrance to world markets.<\/p>\n<p>For their part EIR noted an important factor regarding energy extraction \u2014 ownership of private property.<\/p>\n<p>The profit motive related to ownership of mineral rights \u201cgets people\u2019s skin in the game,\u201d according to Pyle.<\/p>\n<p>Governments of most countries own mineral rights. In the U.S. privately owned mineral rights result in much higher production of oil and gas than on land with the rights <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-admin-closes-off-land-oil-gas-drilling-new-20-year-moratorium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">federally owned<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Score once again for an aspect of free market capitalism.<\/p>\n<p>Energy seems plentiful, according to EIR.<\/p>\n<p>And in light of establishment propaganda on alleged energy scarcity, perhaps we can say EIR is declaring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/al-gore-people-not-100-sold-climate-change-just-like-cops-uvalde-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an inconvenient truth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
