(AP Photo\/Kevin Wolf)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe House Oversight and Judiciary Committees issued lawful subpoenas to Attorney General Garland for the audio recordings of President Biden\u2019s interview with Special Counsel Hur, yet he continues to defy our subpoenas,\u201d Comer <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/comer-announces-markup-of-resolution-to-hold-attorney-general-garland-in-contempt-of-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>wrote<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese audio recordings are important to our investigation of President Biden\u2019s willful retention of classified documents and his fitness to be President of the United States. The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2992644\/republicans-garland-contempt-audio-biden-hur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>exclusively reported<\/a> that the House Judiciary Committee was aiming to hold Garland in contempt of Congress.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/anna-paulina-luna\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Anna Paulina Luna<\/a> (R-FL) has also announced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2996828\/house-gop-merrick-garland-contempt-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>her own resolution<\/a> to hold Garland accountable, in this case in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dem-rep-lieu-on-bannon-meadows-congress-should-put-them-in-confinement\/\" title=\"Dem Rep. Lieu on Bannon, Meadows: Congress Should 'Put Them in Confinement'\">inherent contempt<\/a>, which differs from the judiciary proceeding.<\/p>\n<p>If found guilty, Garland could face a fine of up to one year in prison.
