The Act \u200baims to close \u200dthis gap by enforcing proof of citizenship and purging noncitizens from\u2063 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-nevada-a-corrupt-cash-for-votes-scheme-is-hiding-in-plain-sight\/\" title=\"In Nevada, A Corrupt Cash-For-Votes Scheme Is Hiding In Plain Sight\">voter rolls<\/a>, crucial with millions of noncitizens in the US.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><?xml encoding=\"utf-8\" ?><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p>Congressional Democrats insist that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lee.senate.gov\/2024\/5\/lee-and-roy-partner-on-legislation-to-secure-federal-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SAVE Act<\/a> \u2014 which requires proof of citizenship to establish eligibility to vote in federal elections \u2014 is unnecessary because federal law (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">18 USC \u00a7 611<\/a>) already prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections. <\/p>\n<p>Those making this argument ignore a glaring problem: the government officials who register voters and conduct federal elections aren\u2019t allowed to require proof of citizenship. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1178020501\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-63e00ab26c634776dffd138d1264bafc fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-63e00ab26c634776dffd138d1264bafc\"><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s therefore shockingly easy for noncitizens to vote in federal elections, leaving our elections dangerously vulnerable to foreign interference. Anyone \u2014 even an illegal alien or other noncitizen \u2014 can register to vote in federal elections, just by checking a box and signing a form. <\/p>\n<p>This is all on the honor system. No proof of citizenship is required. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not just that state officials \u2014 who are responsible for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bombshell-doj-conceals-records-about-bidens-use-of-federal-agencies-to-influence-elections\/\" title=\"Bombshell: DOJ Conceals Records About Biden\u2019s Use Of Federal Agencies To Influence Elections\">federal voter registration<\/a> and elections in our country \u2014 <em>don\u2019t <\/em>verify citizenship in this context; it\u2019s that the Supreme Court has told them that they\u2019re not allowed to do so. In <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/supremecourt\/text\/12-71\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Arizona v. Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc., 570 U.S. 1 (2013)<\/a><\/em>, the Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/12\/elon-musk-rightly-says-arizona-doesnt-verify-federal-voter-citizenship-but-the-feds-dont-let-them\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">held<\/a> that the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA, also known as the \u201cMotor Voter\u201d law) prohibits states from requiring proof of citizenship when processing federal voter registration forms. <\/p>\n<p>The SAVE Act would fix this gaping loophole by requiring anyone registering to vote in federal elections to provide proof of citizenship. It would also require states to review existing federal voter registration files and remove all noncitizens. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cb9a844d54686b850fbef7168a2298bb fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cb9a844d54686b850fbef7168a2298bb\"><\/div>\n<p>Remember: nearly every state issues driver\u2019s licenses to noncitizens, and 19 states <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncsl.org\/immigration\/states-offering-drivers-licenses-to-immigrants\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">issue<\/a> them to illegal aliens. This, coupled with the Motor Voter law and the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling, makes it shockingly easy for aliens \u2014 legal and illegal \u2014 to vote in federal elections, even though they\u2019re prohibited from doing so. Considering that there are now nearly 30 million noncitizens in the U.S., including about 12 million who have entered illegally since the last presidential election, we desperately need the SAVE Act. <\/p>\n<p>While Democrats are already mocking the SAVE Act, they don\u2019t dispute that noncitizens shouldn\u2019t vote in federal elections. Rather, they insist that there\u2019s no need for the bill because noncitizens \u2014 being prohibited by law from voting in federal elections \u2014 categorically <em>do not<\/em> vote in such elections. That argument fails for one simple reason: it implausibly assumes universal compliance with a law that has become breathtakingly easy (and correspondingly tempting) to violate. <\/p>\n<p>Some say that noncitizens wouldn\u2019t dare register to vote in federal elections, as doing so is illegal and could adversely affect their present or future immigration status. Even if this assumption were correct with regard to many (or even most) noncitizens in the U.S., that still wouldn\u2019t disprove the need for the SAVE Act. <\/p>\n<p>If even a tiny percentage of America\u2019s 30 million noncitizens were to vote, they could change the outcome of a close federal election. And, as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/I_A_Project\/status\/1788594069528035837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted<\/a> by the Immigration Accountability Project, it\u2019s odd for the left to insist so vehemently that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/corporate-special-interests-throw-support-behind-salazar-amnesty-plan\/\" title=\"Corporate Special Interests Throw Support Behind Salazar Amnesty Plan\">illegal aliens don\u2019<\/a>t vote, given that congressional Democrats have inserted language \u201cto waive inadmissibility for illegal voting in all [their] amnesty bills.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-55b307ef0125e33cb39b2a863eae6766 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-55b307ef0125e33cb39b2a863eae6766\"><\/div>\n<p>Democrats can\u2019t have it both ways; they can\u2019t (1) credibly say that illegal aliens don\u2019t vote in federal elections, and then (2) expect us to forget their own proposals, which assume the opposite is true. In any event, and regardless of how many (or few) noncitizens may have voted in the past, why not take steps to prevent it from happening in the future? <\/p>\n<p>The sanctity of your vote is at stake. Now more than ever, we need to make sure that our elections are fair, lawfully conducted, and free of foreign influence.
