The previous generation of Bolt models ended in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Motor Trend said the new Bolt is expected to be either a compact SUV or a crossover hatchback that would be one of Chevy\u2019s most affordable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hertz-selling-fleet-electric-vehicles-shifting-back-gas-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vehicles<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Chevy sold about 130,000 Malibus last year, up 13 percent from the year before, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/09\/business\/chevrolet-killing-off-chevy-malibu-sedan\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will the rapid transition to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bidens-climate-agenda-wont-replace-jobs-it-seeks-to-kill-separate-ap-wapo-fact-checks-suggest\/\" title=\"Biden\u2019s Climate Agenda Won\u2019t Replace Jobs It Seeks To Kill, Separate AP, WaPo Fact-Checks Suggest\">electric vehicles<\/a> be a mistake?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Cars now make up less than 20 percent of Chevy\u2019s American vehicle sales, according to Cox Automotive.<\/p>\n<p>The Malibu was a favorite of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-consumer-reports-finds-electric-vehicles-significantly-less-reliable-gas-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fleet operators<\/a>, according to Cox Automotive, with sales going from 50 percent to 75 percent in any month to rental companies and similar businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Cox spokesman Mark Schirmer said Chevy\u2019s decision is a boon for Honda and Toyota.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">GM to stop making iconic Chevy Malibu after 60 years <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Dmmk5FXOuI\">pic.twitter.com\/Dmmk5FXOuI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 B.C. Begley (@BC_News1) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BC_News1\/status\/1788319334156165181?\">May 8, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cHonda and Toyota alike must be pleasantly surprised to see their competitors pack up and leave the\u00a0mid-size sedan business,\u201d Schirmer said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe segment remains sizable \u2013 over 900,000 mid-size sedans were bought in 2023 \u2013 and Honda and Toyota have excellent offerings, and now with little competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caranddriver.com\/news\/a60734464\/chevy-malibu-production-ending\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Car and Driver<\/a> reported that the final Malibus will be made in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been somewhat lukewarm toward the Malibu in recent years, but we\u2019ll certainly lament the passing of such a longstanding nameplate,\u201d Jack Fitzgerald wrote on Car and Driver.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho knows?
