The\u2064 production&#8217;s budget,\u2064 cast composition,\u2063 and critical reception \u2062add\u2062 layers to its\u200c narrative.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 12, 2024 at 8:26am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A musical for which Hillary Clinton is a co-producer is wallowing at the bottom of the pack on Broadway.<\/p>\n<p>The show \u201cSuffs\u201d tells the story of the women\u2019s suffrage movement in the United States from 1913 to 1920.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/hillary-clinton-produced-play-suffs-failing-pack-seats-during-peak-broadway-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a>, on Broadway Theatre Industry official site \u201cThe Broadway League,\u201d attendance numbers show most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/black-actress-cast-as-betty-boop-in-new-stage-musical-feel-seen-and-loved\/\" title=\"Black actress to portray Betty Boop in upcoming stage musical, aiming to promote inclusivity and representation.\">theater-goers<\/a> have found something else to watch.<\/p>\n<p>The data showed \u201cSuffs\u201d \u00a0hit 81 percent capacity in eight performances the week of May 5, and was in the bottom eight shows in its category \u2014 the bottom 23 percent of all 35 shows playing that week.<\/p>\n<p>The week before, the show hit 78 percent capacity, Fox reported.<\/p>\n<p>Numbers like that \u201cspell potential trouble for a new show that should still be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/crt-teacher-crt-isnt-taught-in-schools\/\" title=\"CRT Teacher: CRT Isn\u2019t Taught In Schools\">drawing big crowds<\/a> during Broadway\u2019s peak season \u2014 the month before the Tony Awards,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2024\/05\/08\/hillary-clintons-feminist-broadway-musical-suffs-struggling-at-box-office\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Breitbart<\/a> noted on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo put the <em>Suffs<\/em> numbers in perspective, the new Broadway musical <em>Lempicka<\/em> just posted a closing notice after playing to 83 percent capacity last week.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Hillary Clinton releases feminist-themed Broadway musical \u2018Suffs\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It is somehow actually worse than everyone expected <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NYlrPA0uip\">pic.twitter.com\/NYlrPA0uip<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Jack Poso \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 (@JackPosobiec) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JackPosobiec\/status\/1778105161350598944?\">April 10, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/alanis-morissettes-jagged-little-pill-broadway-show-permanently-closes-due-to-nyc-covid-surge\/\" title=\"Alanis Morissette's 'Jagged Little Pill' Broadway Show Permanently Closes Due to NYC COVID Surge\">musical opened<\/a> on Broadway in April after an off-Broadway run that began in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The show was written by Shaina Taub, who also stars.<\/p>\n<p>It was directed by Leigh Silverman, and produced by lead producers Jill Furman and Rachel Sussman. Nobel winner Malala Yousafzai is also a co-producer.<\/p>\n<p>According to Breitbart, Meena Harris, niece of Vice President Kamala Harris, is also a co-producer.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview last week, Clinton said the play was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hillary-clinton-jumps-trump-bloodbath-frenzy-question-doesnt-want-hear-answers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">topical and important<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Would you go see this show?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cIn this election year, we need a lot of joy to be honest,\u201d she said on the \u201cMorning Joe\u201d show Thursday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/know-your-value\/out-of-office\/hillary-clinton-makes-mark-broadway-hit-musical-suffs-rcna151564\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGoing to see how the struggle finally ended for women to get the right to vote with the passage of the 19th Amendment is not only a thrilling experience because of the extraordinary work that [Taub] has done in bringing this piece of history to life in such an entertaining way, but it\u2019s so relevant today,\u201d Clinton said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Hillary Clinton-produced play \u2018Suffs\u2019 failing to pack seats during peak Broadway season <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mz7xz6NmmT\">https:\/\/t.co\/mz7xz6NmmT<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/36yhLRaK3u\">pic.twitter.com\/36yhLRaK3u<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 New York Post (@nypost) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nypost\/status\/1789512144892923989?\">May 12, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cSuffs\u201d has an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/even-hillary-clinton-now-acknowledges-biden-legitimate-issue-sink\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">all-female<\/a> cast, which meant that President Woodrow Wilson was played by a woman, <a href=\"https:\/\/suffsmusical.com\/cast-creative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grace McLean<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton used the show as a vehicle for a fundraiser for President Joe Biden, Breitbart reported, with cast members performing at the April 3 event.<\/p>\n<p>The play\u2019s budget was $19 million, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/10\/18\/theater\/suffs-broadway-hillary-clinton-malala.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In reviewing the three-hour show, theater critic Maya Phillips wrote in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/04\/06\/theater\/suffs-review-public-theater.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times<\/a> that \u201cthe whole production feels so attuned to the gender politics and protests of today, so aware of possible critiques that it takes on its subject with an overabundance of caution.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
