The \u2064incident raises concerns about renewable energy reliability amidst natural adversities.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\"> News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span> \u00a0By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span> \u00a0May 12, 2024 at 6:45am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The concept of floating solar power is taking on water after a storm knocked a new Indian project offline only a few days after it began operations.<\/p>\n<p>What has been described as the world\u2019s largest floating solar plant at Omkareshwar Dam was badly damaged when a storm hit in mid-April.<\/p>\n<p>Narmada Hydroelectric Development Corporation said the plant will be back in operation soon, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/damaged-solar-panels-hail-storm-will-likely-end-landfill-recycling-isnt-possible\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">no firm date<\/a> was announced, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofindia.indiatimes.com\/city\/indore\/storm-damages-worlds-biggest-floating-solar-plant\/articleshow\/109231119.cms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Times of India<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The damaged floating plant is one of three developed near the dam. The storm that damaged it had winds reported at 50 kph, which is just over 31 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Those winds are actually relatively tame. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weather.gov\/mlb\/wind_threat#:~:text=Very%20Damaging%20Wind%20Gusts%20%2D%20Severe,or%20greater)%20causing%20major%20damage.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Weather Service<\/a>, \u201cextreme\u201d wind threats feature winds approximately ranging from 74 mph to 95 mph.
