Trump Was Blasted For \u2018Tent Cities.\u2019\">multiple outlets<\/a>, including the U.K.\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-13406037\/San-Francisco-giving-taxpayer-funded-shots-vodka-homeless-alcoholics.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Mail<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/politics\/article\/sf-free-alcohol-homeless-19446850.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>. The objective of the initiative is providing residents with alcohol in a manner that helps to break their addiction.<\/p>\n<p>Alice Moughamian, a nurse manager for the program, touted the benefits it offers to \u201cclients\u201d in a video presentation that was shared Friday by another user on X.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">San Francisco\u2019s managed alcohol program provides homeless alcoholics with housing, meals, activities (including crafts and outings to Giants games), and a quantity of alcoholic beverages determined by their \u201cneed and desire,\u201d with no expectation of reducing consumption. They simply do not consider abstaining from alcohol as a possibility. Nurses offer vodka, beer, and other beverages multiple times per day in accordance with the needs of each <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fentanyl-smoking-strip-used-bookmark-san-franciscos-main-library-taken-homeless-drug-addicts-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">homeless<\/a> person.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Nathan, who chairs the Salvation Army\u2019s advisory board in San Francisco and leads a technology company, described seeing kegs set up to provide the afflicted with free beer.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The location is an old hotel in SOMA. Inside the lobby, they had a kegs set up to taps where they were basically giving out free beer to the homeless who\u2019ve been identified with AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder).<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Nathan \u2022 blaze.ai (@adampnathan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/adampnathan\/status\/1788049237311107309?\">May 8, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/amber-heards-pr-guru-hired-paint-depp-alcoholic-two-dui-arrests-left-jobs-sex-harassment-claims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alcoholics<\/a> are invited to obtain drinks from a program nurse as many as four times each day, according to the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n<p>Majumder said during her presentation that the initiative emphasizes \u201cpatient preference\u201d over \u201cphysician preference.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should cities give free alcohol to homeless residents?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The program started in 2020, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/san-francisco-buys-vodka-shots-140332683.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo<\/a>, when homeless people were allowed to stay in hotels amid the spread of COVID.<\/p>\n<p>The capacity of the program has since doubled. The city now offers 20 beds in the former hotel.<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco Mayor London Breed has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/san-francisco-doubles-city-sanctioned-drug-use-amid-fentanyl-epidemic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criticized<\/a> her city\u2019s use of safe injection sites, in which drug users receive clean needles and are allowed to take the substances under controlled conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor slammed the so-called strategy of harm reduction as \u201cnot reducing harm\u201d in February, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sfstandard.com\/2024\/02\/26\/mayor-takes-aim-at-harm-reduction-says-strategy-has-furthered-fentanyl-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco Standard<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
