The public was unaware of this warning until three\u200d months later \u200dwhen Biden halted\u2064 a weapons shipment. The White House did not comment on the delayed\u2062 disclosure. Former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel highlighted Biden&#8217;s need \u200cto take a stand. President \u200dBiden\u200c warned PM Netanyahu on Feb. 11 of possible US military support reductions if Israel entered \u200cRafah. The White House has not addressed\u200c the delayed revelation. Ex-Defense Secretary \u200dHagel emphasized Biden&#8217;s decision\u200d to make a\u200d stand.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> warned Israeli Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/benjamin-netanyahu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> on Feb. 11 that the United States <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/11\/us\/politics\/biden-netanyahu-gaza.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&#038;referringSource=articleShare&#038;sgrp=c-cb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>could pull some military support<\/a> if Israel invaded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gaza<\/a> city of Rafah.<\/p>\n<p>But the public didn\u2019t find out about Biden\u2019s warning until about three months later when he announced he was pausing a shipment of weapons to Israel. <\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> contacted the White House to ask for comment on the new reporting and why they didn\u2019t disclose the conversation, but did not receive a response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has just gotten to a point where enough is enough,\u201d former Defense Secretary and Republican senator Chuck Hagel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/11\/us\/politics\/biden-netanyahu-gaza.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&#038;referringSource=articleShare&#038;sgrp=c-cb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> the <em>New York Times<\/em>. \u201cI think he felt he had to say something. He had to do something. He had to show some sign that he wasn\u2019t going to continue this.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/05\/08\/politics\/joe-biden-interview-cnntv\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> CNN that he \u201cmade it clear that if they go into Rafah \u2014 they haven\u2019t gone in Rafah yet \u2014 if they go into Rafah, I\u2019m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities \u2014 that deal with that problem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The paused weapons shipment caused an uproar and resulted in Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) introducing articles of impeachment alleging Biden abused his power by pausing the shipment of weapons to Israel. He accused him of committing a quid pro quo, just as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democrats<\/a> did to Trump in their own impeachment articles in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>A White House official called it \u201cridiculous\u201d in a statement to the <em>Hill<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenior administration officials had already <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jack-smith-is-expediting-trump-trial-to-unlawfully-interfere-in-election-gaetz-complaint-says\/\" title=\"Gaetz Complaint: Jack Smith Rushing Trump Trial to Illegally Meddle in Election\">made multiple public statements<\/a> about Rafah similar to the President\u2019s, including that we are also ensuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Israel<\/a> gets every dollar appropriated in the supplemental,\u201d the official said. \u201cTrump failed to spend dollars appropriated by Congress that he was legally required to spend. The decision to hold back offensive aid from Israel as it plans an incursion into Rafah, with the goal of putting an ultimate end to Hamas, was the end result of months of back and forth between himself and Netanyahu.<\/p>\n<p>From an electoral perspective, Biden\u2019s handling of support for Israel has put him in tight positions with several constituents. As his team works to find a way to continue to appeal to younger voters, there have been weeks of protests on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/college\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>college<\/a> campuses voicing solidarity with Hamas and antipathy for Israel.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In February, President Biden cautioned PM Netanyahu that US military aid could be reduced if Israel attacked Rafah.
