He reacted with a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLack of courage from a Judge who didn\u2019t want to decide the case on its merits,\u201d he said. \u201cUnfortunately, girls and women are hurt by the Court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plaintiffs conceded that I had the authority to issue the Executive Order and the judge on his own went out of his way to avoid ruling on the merits,\u201d Blakeman told the New York Post.<\/p>\n<p>The New York Civil Liberties Union had previously filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Long Island Roller Rebels that alleged discrimination based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gender<\/a> identity from the order.<\/p>\n<p>The Roller Rebels are a county-based roller derby league with members including those who are transgender and would have had to prevent any non-biological women from participating in activities on county-run parks or athletic facilities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s decision is a victory for those who believe that transgender people have the right to participate in sports just like everyone else,\u201d Amanda Urena, president of the Roller Rebels, said in a statement, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/judge-strikes-ny-countys-ban-female-transgender-athletes-110124813\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>ABC News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New York Attorney General Letitia James previously demanded that the Nassau County Executive recant his order along with a cease-and-desist letter and said the Friday decision was a \u201cmajor victory.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The New York Supreme Court overturned a ban in Nassau County preventing transgender women from joining girls&#8217; and women&#8217;s sports at county parks.
