Movie Sneak Peak Has Been Released Featuring Star Actor; Opening Date Announced<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/randydesoto\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/randydesoto\/%20\"><span>Randy DeSoto<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 10, 2024 at 8:32am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/x-files-animated-spinoff-series-gets-the-chop-will-not-move-forward\/\" title=\"\u201cX-Files\u201d Animated Spinoff Series Gets the Chop, Will Not Move Forward\">full-length feature film<\/a> about Ronald Reagan\u2019s life is set to hit theaters in late August, just ahead of the fall presidential campaign season.<\/p>\n<p>He was among the most popular presidents in the post-World War II era, leaving office in January 1989 with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-touts-bidenomics-in-chicago-says-it-restores-the-american-dream\/\" title=\"Biden promotes 'Bidenomics' in Chicago, reviving the American Dream.\">63 percent approval rating<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/data\/final-presidential-job-approval-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gallup<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Reagan was the last presidential candidate to win in a true landslide, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/1984_Election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">49 states to 1<\/a> in 1984, with Democrat Walter Mondale barely taking his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-orders-flags-at-half-mast-for-fallen-capitol-officers\/\" title=\"Trump Orders Flags at Half-Mast for Fallen Capitol Officers\">home state<\/a> of Minnesota (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.presidency.ucsb.edu\/statistics\/elections\/1984\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">by 0.2 percent<\/a> of the vote) and the District of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>The film \u201cReagan,\u201d starring Dennis Quaid in the lead role, will be released nationwide on Aug. 30, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/03\/reagan-movie-release-date-set-showbiz-direct-1235868769\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Deadline<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/C6jowFIvYpu\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>The movie explores the conservative icon\u2019s extraordinary life, taking the audience from his boyhood in Illinois to becoming a Hollywood star and president of the Screen Actors Guild in the 1930s, 40s and 50s, to governor of California in the 1960s and 70s, and then on to becoming the 40th president of the United States in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>As one would expect, the Cold War plays heavily into the storyline.<\/p>\n<p>The tale is told through the eyes of former KGB agent Viktor Petrovich, portrayed by Jon Voight, who sets out to explain to an up-and-coming Russian leader how Reagan helped bring about the demise of the Soviet Union in the 1980s.<\/p>\n<p>The Western Journal attended a screening of the film in Scottsdale earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Quaid\u2019s portrayal of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/remembering-ronald-reagan-15th-anniversary-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reagan<\/a> is strong, as is Penelope Ann Miller\u2019s (\u201cKindergarten Cop\u201d) performance as Nancy Reagan.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CiMT-eQkSrY?si=58lKqoSV_hF5U1OO\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As one would expect and hope, some of the most dramatic moments in Reagan\u2019s life are in the movie, including when a would-be assassin shot him just months into his presidency.<\/p>\n<p>And of course, what would a Reagan film be without that famous moment before the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ronald-reagan-helped-bring-berlin-wall-30-years-ago-mr-gorbachev-tear-wall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brandenburg Gate in Berlin<\/a>, Germany in 1987, when he proclaimed, \u201cMr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the film was shot at Reagan\u2019s ranch, just north of Santa Barbara, California. He and Nancy spent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaganfoundation.org\/ronald-reagan\/the-presidency\/happy-at-home-by-craig-shirley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">about a year<\/a> of his presidency altogether at what became known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaganlibrary.gov\/Permanent-exhibits\/camp-david-rancho-del-cielo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Western White House<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gunrR2hKUYg?si=hozDk_1s2Y4LlrM3\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Quaid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7isV2bkT1nQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> CBN News that he\u2019s really proud of the film.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was my favorite president,\u201d the actor unequivocally said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPortraying Ronald Reagan was an enormous challenge,\u201d Quaid <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/03\/reagan-movie-release-date-set-showbiz-direct-1235868769\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a>. \u201cThis is an important movie, one of my most interesting roles, and I am really excited to work with the ShowBiz team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ShowBiz Direct is the distributor of \u201cReagan,\u201d which was originally scheduled for release in 2023, but faced production delays due to the COVID pandemic and the actors\u2019 strike.<\/p>\n<p>The film is directed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0573732\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sean McNamara<\/a>, whose past works include \u201cSoul Surfer\u201d and \u201cThe Miracle Season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about \u201cReagan\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaganmovie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
