Pompeo calls for release of Chinese citizen journalist\">found guilty<\/a> of two counts of contempt of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>The sentence was delayed while Bannon appealed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/steve-bannons-trial-raises-question-democrats-resurrected-mccarthyism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bannon<\/a> declined to speak to lawmakers because he said he had been protected by executive privilege due to his close proximity to Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals found Bannon\u2019s defense could have held some merit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/05\/10\/appeals-court-upholds-steve-bannons-conviction-for-defying-jan-6-probe-00157301\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> reported, and the court decided to hear the case while staying his sentence.<\/p>\n<p>But on Friday morning, Bannon\u2019s sentence was upheld by the court in a unanimous 3-0 ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Kyle Cheney with Politico reported the court is made up of one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-please-pardon-jon-woods-a-victim-of-process-crimes-like-michael-flynn\/\" title=\"President Trump, Please Pardon Jon Woods, a Victim of Process Crimes Like Michael Flynn\">judge appointed<\/a> by former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/former-senior-obama-adviser-arrested-alleged-child-sex-offenses-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Barack Obama<\/a>, one judge appointed by Trump and one judge appointed by President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fact-check-biden-claims-better-job-producer-trump-real-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">BREAKING: Steve BANNON\u2019s conviction for defying the Jan. 6 committee has been upheld by a unanimous three-judge panel of the DC Circuit Court of Appeals.<\/p>\n<p>His four-month jail sentence has been on hold pending this ruling.<\/p>\n<p>Details TK<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kyledcheney\/status\/1788935301060075674?\">May 10, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Steve Bannon be sent to jail?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/24657496-bannon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 20-page opinion<\/a>, Bannon said he deliberately ignored the committee\u2019s subpoena because his attorneys led him to believe he did not have to speak to lawmakers about information that they said was privileged.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/daily-wire-launches-razor-company-takes-aim-at-woke-harrys-razors\/\" title=\"Daily Wire Launches Razor Company, Takes Aim At \u2018Woke\u2019 Harry\u2019s Razors\">court ultimately ruled<\/a> that Bannon\u2019s refusal to speak with the Jan. 6 committee was \u201cdeliberate\u201d and \u201cintentional\u201d and that his reasons for ignoring the subpoena were irrelevant and had no legal precedent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe judgment of conviction and sentence\u2026 is affirmed,\u201d the court concluded.<\/p>\n<p>As Politico noted, former Trump administration trade adviser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/obama-appointed-federal-judge-sentences-former-trump-adviser-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Peter Navarro<\/a> also argued his communications with Trump before Jan. 6 were privileged, before he was sentenced to four months behind bars for also defying a congressional subpoena.<\/p>\n<p>Navarro reported to a prison in Miami, Florida, on March 19 to serve his four-month sentence, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/justice-department\/ex-trump-adviser-peter-navarro-reports-prison-contempt-congress-convic-rcna144043#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear when or where Bannon will report to serve out his sentence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2024\/05\/10\/bannon-jail-contempt-appeal-upheld\/?utm_medium=social&#038;utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=wp_main\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a> reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-steve-bannon-issues-chilling-warning-donald-trump-references-dark-forces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 70-year-old<\/a> will have until next week to ask the court to reconsider remanding him to a federal prison.<\/p>\n<p>Bannon had not commented on the ruling as of early Friday afternoon but he <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RealAmVoice\/status\/1788932700637667614\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was hosting<\/a> his daily \u201cWar Room\u201d broadcast when the court\u2019s decision was announced.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
