Trump&#8217;s remarks targeting Jewish voters&#8217; support for Democrats have\u2064 drawn condemnation and accusations of repeating antisemitic tropes.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a> is running into criticism as he tries to court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/jews\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Jewish Americans<\/a> to support him rather than President <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> in November. <\/p>\n<p>Trump has been critical of Biden\u2019s policies toward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Israel<\/a>, notably Biden\u2019s decision to begin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2998867\/bowman-offensive-primary-opponent-siding-republican-megadonors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>withholding arms<\/a> from Israel for its ground invasion into Rafah earlier this week. In criticizing his 2024 election opponent, Trump leveled his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/live\/2024\/05\/09\/us\/biden-trump-election\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>latest attack<\/a> on Jews who vote for Democrats, but he may have opened himself up to slings and arrows as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re Jewish and you vote for him, I say, shame on you,\u201d he told Spectrum News 1 North Carolina this week. <\/p>\n<p>In a social media <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TrumpWarRoom\/status\/1788636849709236661\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>post<\/a>, he said Biden \u201chates Israel\u201d and \u201chates the Jewish people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Jewish people are going to vote for Joe Biden, they have to have their head examined,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In his haste to attack Biden\u2019s treatment of Israel abroad and Jews in the United States, Trump has been accused of repeating antisemitic tropes himself. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike a cuckoo clock of hate, he is popping up every month with the same patronizing antisemitic shtick and reminding Jewish voters that he has no respect for us,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/donald-trump-the-bidens-got-rich-while-americans-got-robbed\/\" title=\"Donald Trump: 'The Bidens Got Rich While Americans Got Robbed'\">campaign<\/a> spokesman Charles Lutvak said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>While he was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-taking-regeneron-drug-remdesivir-therapy-for-coronavirus-diagnosis-ex-wh-doctor-explains\/\" title=\"Trump taking Regeneron drug, Remdesivir therapy for coronavirus diagnosis: ex-WH doctor explains\">president<\/a>, Trump accused Jewish Democrats of being \u201cdisloyal\u201d to him. It\u2019s a remark that many condemn as antisemitic because it evokes the trope that Jews have \u201cdual loyalty\u201d and put their loyalty to Israel over their nationality.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also infamously remarked that there were \u201cvery fine people on both sides\u201d during the \u201cUnite the Right\u201d rally in which white supremacists and neo-Nazis rallied in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the first year of his presidency. <\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Trump said Jews who voted for Democrats \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2927145\/trump-says-any-jewish-person-who-votes-for-democrats-hates-their-religion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>hate their religion<\/a>\u201d and \u201chate Israel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually think they hate Israel,\u201d Trump said. \u201cI think they hate Israel. And the Democrat Party hates Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey hate everything about Israel, and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The remark was denounced by many in the Jewish community. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat escalation of rhetoric is so dangerous, so divisive, and so wrong,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/u-s-jews-upset-with-trumps-latest-rhetoric-say-he-doesnt-get-to-tell-them-how-to-be-jewish\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Rabbi Richard Jacobs, president of the Union for Reform Judaism, the largest U.S. Jewish religious denomination. \u201cThis is a moment when Israel needs there to be more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-democrats-push-reformed-voting-rights-laws\/\" title=\"Biden administration, Democrats push reformed voting rights laws\">bipartisan support<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Secular Jews are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/american-politics\/article-796116\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statistically<\/a> more likely to vote for Democrats, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2959250\/trump-jews-vote-biden-do-not-love-israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>while<\/a> conservative or more religious Jews are more likely to vote for Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner <\/em>reached out to Trump\u2019s campaign for comment. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former President Trump faces backlash in wooing Jewish Americans from backing him over President Biden.
