Westerhout highlighted Trump&#8217;s work ethic and respect for his \u2064wife, Melania. \u2062She tearfully spoke about her abrupt White House exit and her\u2062 book detailing her experience.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A former White House Oval Office aide praised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a> as a \u201creally good boss\u201d while testifying during the former president\u2019s hush money trial in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"New York\">New York<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors called Madeleine Westerhout as a witness to testify about how detail-oriented Trump was and to confirm certain emails and meetings, but her testimony served largely as the third positive review to come from a female Trump employee on the stand.<\/p>\n<p>Westerhout characterized Trump as hardworking, saying he talked to \u201ca lot\u201d of people every day and took calls from 6 a.m. until well into the evening, according to courtroom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/politics\/live-news\/trump-hush-money-trial-05-09-24\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reports<\/a> from CNN.<\/p>\n<p>Westerhout highlighted how concerned Trump was with his wife Melania\u2019s opinion. Defense attorneys have argued that Trump\u2019s wife was one reason he was motivated to make a lawful hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, an elected Democrat, has alleged that Trump was driven by the election to conceal the payment and that he therefore <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fec-finds-twitter-didnt-violate-election-law-by-suppressing-hunter-biden-story-nyt-says-story-was-unsubstantiated\/\" title=\"FEC Finds Twitter Didn\u2019t Violate Election Law By Suppressing Hunter Biden Story; NYT Says Story Was \u2018Unsubstantiated\u2019\">violated election laws<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was really no one else that could put him in his place too,\u201d Westerhout said of Melania Trump. \u201cHe was my boss, but she was definitely the one in charge. I just remember that \u2026 thinking that their relationship was really special. (Elizabeth Williams via AP)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Westerhout was forced to resign after she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2019\/08\/30\/trumps-personal-assistant-fired-ivanka-tiffany-1479226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>divulged<\/a> unflattering details about Trump\u2019s children to reporters at an off-the-record dinner. She later wrote a book about her experience called <em>Off the Record: My Dream Job at the White House, How I Lost It, and What I Learned<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought it was real important to share with the American people the man that I got to know,\u201d Westerhout testified, again tearing up. \u201cI don\u2019t think he\u2019s treated fairly, and I wanted to tell that story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Westerhout said she found Trump \u201cvery enjoyable to work for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe never once made me feel that I didn\u2019t deserve that job and that I didn\u2019t belong there. (AP Photo\/Andrew Harnik)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Westerhout\u2019s appearance came after two other women, Hope Hicks and Rhona Graff, testified during the past three weeks of the trial about their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/staff-of-largest-lgbtq-advocacy-group-reportedly-demand-president-resign-for-helping-cuomo-discredit-metoo-accuser\/\" title=\"Staff Of Largest LGBTQ Advocacy Group Reportedly Demand President Resign For Helping Cuomo Discredit #MeToo Accuser\">positive experiences working<\/a> for Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Hicks, who worked as Trump\u2019s 2016 campaign press secretary before joining the White House, gave a glowing review of Trump, saying she enjoyed working with him and his family and that Trump was a \u201cvery good multitasker and a very hard worker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graff, who has worked as a top assistant to Trump for more than 30 years, said her job was \u201cexciting\u201d and that Trump was a \u201cfair\u201d boss.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors asked Graff if she felt Trump respected her, and Graff replied, \u201cI don\u2019t think I would have been there 34 years if he didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors have sought to paint a visual of Trump and his campaign scrambling to course-correct his image with women ahead of the 2016 election, especially in the wake of the release of the infamous <em>Access Hollywood<\/em> tape. They have argued that Trump was concerned with his election prospects and that this was the driving force behind his desire to keep Daniels silent about her allegation that she had a sexual encounter with Trump 10 years prior.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Cohen, Trump\u2019s attorney in 2016, paid Daniels $130,000 right before the election, and Trump paid Cohen back through a payment plan that began in 2017. Bragg has alleged the payment plan was illegal, though evidence has shown the structure of the plan was the brainchild of Trump\u2019s ex-CFO Allen Weisselberg.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors steered Westerhout to explain how Trump was detail-oriented and how he generally carefully read over documents he signed. Bragg has yet to establish conclusively that Trump had knowledge of alleged illegalities when he signed checks for Cohen that included a reimbursement for the Daniels payment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy understanding is that he was attentive to things that were brought to his attention,\u201d even in busy moments, Westerhout said.<\/p>\n<p>She testified that she regularly brought Trump stacks of checks to sign, he would sign them, and she would FedEx them to Trump\u2019s accounting team.<\/p>\n<p>Westerhout also confirmed that she helped arrange a meeting in the Oval Office between Trump and Cohen in February 2017.
