Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) introduced the No Flights for Terrorists Act, and on Thursday, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) introduced the Encampments or Endowments Ac; both bills came in response to pro-Palestinian protests that have spread to college campuses across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The No Flights for Terrorists Act would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marshall.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/OLL24379.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>place<\/a> people who \u201cencouraged crimes of violence against Jewish persons,\u201d supported terrorist groups, or have a discipline record from a college or university for similar conduct on a no-fly list. The Transportation Security Administration\u2019s no-fly list is the same one that includes terrorist suspects, and it is a part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-lawmaker-terror-suspects-are-starting-to-exploit-the-southern-border\/\" title=\"GOP Lawmaker: Terror Suspects Are \u2018Starting To Exploit The Southern Border\u2019\">terrorist watch list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHamas terrorist sympathizers don\u2019t just hate Israel, they hate America and everything we stand for,\u201d Marshall said in a press release. \u201cThese Far-Left paid professional agitators are promoting terrorism with no fear of the consequences from this Administration and these University Presidents who are coddling them to safeguard their donor lists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen protestors chant \u2018we are Hamas\u2019 and carry around \u2018Death to America\u2019 posters, we should believe them,\u201d Blackburn added. \u201cAny student, professor, or paid protestor in America who promotes terrorism or engages in terrorist acts on behalf of Hamas should immediately be placed on the TSA No Fly List.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The no-fly bill has been criticized, however, by some conservatives as going too far, representing a violation of the First Amendment and an extension of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dei\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"diversity, equity, and inclusion\">diversity, equity, and inclusion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bill is another DEI-style effort to provide hate speech protections for a single ethno-religious group,\u201d Christopher Rufo, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, said in a post on X. \u201cIt is unnecessary, undermines the principle of colorblind equality, and raises a number of fair criticisms. Why not include penalties for those who have \u2018encouraged crimes of violence\u2019 against white persons? Or black persons? Or Eskimos? Rufo \u2694\ufe0f (@realchrisrufo) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/realchrisrufo\/status\/1788618098301600225?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 9, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The measure was filed as an amendment to the Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill currently being weighed by the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Vance\u2019s bill, the Encampments or Endowments Act, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vance.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Bill-Text_Encampments-or-Endowments-Act_Final2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>filed<\/a> Thursday and would block universities from receiving federal funding if they do not remove unlawful encampments such as the ones seen at many schools across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot allow people who hate our country to turn campuses into garbage dumps,\u201d Vance said in a press release.\u00a0\u201cMy legislation will force colleges to follow the law, protect their students, and shut these encampments down. If they refuse, they\u2019ll pay a hefty price. It\u2019s time to end this national embarrassment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The measure would force institutions of higher education to remove encampments within seven days of them being erected if they impede core functions of the school. Universities found to be noncompliant would lose access to institutional aid and student aid, such as Pell Grants and federal loans, for five years.<\/p>\n<p>The schools would also be required to provide the funding for such student aid out of pocket. Failure to do that would result in a 50% tax on a school\u2019s endowment assets.<\/p>\n<p>The two bills come after the House overwhelmingly passed the controversial Antisemitism Awareness Act, which would give the Department of Education the authority to apply an expansive definition of \u201cantisemitism\u201d to civil rights law enforcement. Critics have slammed that bill as unconstitutional and an affront to free speech.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis bill is little more than an effort to score political points and is so poorly drafted that it violates the Constitution and could have serious ramifications for the Christian community,\u201d Rep.
