Troy Nehls (R-TX) introduced a bill Wednesday <a href=\"https:\/\/nehls.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/rep-troy-e-nehls-introduces-spend-it-home-act#:~:text=Nehls%20(R%2DTX%2D22,end%20of%20the%20calendar%20year.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>endeavoring<\/a> to hand control of tax dollars over to citizens. <\/p>\n<p>Named the \u201cSpend It At Home Act,\u201d the legislation would require the Department of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/treasury\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Treasury<\/a> to allow taxpayers to indicate whether they would like their taxes to be used for domestic or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>international<\/a> purposes on federal income <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/taxes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>tax<\/a> forms.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Rep. Zoom Tax Payment In 2021: federal income tax.\">federal income tax<\/a> form asking Americans whether they would want their hard-earned dollars spent at home or abroad is a simple solution to show [Senate Majority Leader] Chuck Schumer and others waiving Ukrainian flags on the House floor that we are not doing the will of the American people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The bill appears to be a response to the $95 billion approved for foreign aid to Israel, Ukraine, and others. Many Republicans fought House Speaker Mike Johnson\u2019s (R-LA) push for the legislation, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was incensed enough to call for his removal.<\/p>\n<p>A common argument for Republicans unwilling to pass the aid legislation was that the money needed to be spent in the U.S. Nehls\u2019s bill would give taxpayers control over whether their money is directed overseas. About half of federal income tax last year was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/59730#:~:text=Revenues%20received%20by%20the%20federal,receipts%20from%20individual%20income%20taxes.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>from<\/a> individual taxpayers, around $2.2 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly half of American taxpayers have said the federal government is sending too much money to Ukraine, but President Biden and the uniparty just defied them and sent another $61 billion anyway,\u201d Moore told the outlet in a statement.\u00a0\u201cThis legislation gives taxpayers a chance to make their voices heard on where their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hate-being-spewed-in-the-name-of-patriotism-wapo-opinion-attacks-anthem-before-games-2\/\" title=\"\u2018Hate Being Spewed In The Name Of Patriotism\u2019: WaPo Opinion Attacks Anthem Before Games\">hard-earned money<\/a> is being spent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Republicans have a majority in the House but not in the Senate, making the bill unlikely to pass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always put America First, and I hope the data produced by this legislation will encourage my colleagues to do the same,\u201d Nehls said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
