This\u2062 move comes amidst fraud allegations and financial accountability concerns within \u2062the BLM charity,\u200d leading to the resignation of co-founder\u2064 Patrisse Cullors over \u200cscrutiny of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-censors-report-on-black-lives-matter-co-founders-real-estate-purchases\/\" title=\"Facebook Censors Report On Black Lives Matter Co-Founder\u2019s Real Estate Purchases\">real estate purchases<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The national <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/black-lives-matter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Black Lives Matter<\/a> group is accusing a top left-wing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/dark-money\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dark money<\/a> group in court of mismanaging and withholding $33 million of its cash, according to a complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit, filed on Monday in California Superior Court in Los Angeles County by the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, claimed that the Tides Foundation \u201crefused to honor its promises and continues to commandeer BLMGNF\u2019s donations.\u201d The Tides Center, an affiliate of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/san-francisco\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>San Francisco<\/a>-based Tides Foundation that incubates new progressive groups, previously acted as a fiscal sponsor of BLMGNF and is bankrolled by influential Democratic megadonors, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/george-soros\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>George Soros<\/a> and Bill Gates, tax forms show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTides has engaged in deceptive business practices and has operated in a quasi-banking capacity without appropriate regulatory oversight or licenses,\u201d lawyers for BLMGNF alleged in the complaint. \u201cThis action highlights a critical regulatory discrepancy that allows Tides (a nonprofit entity) to manage assets without adequate safeguards totaling over $1.4 billion \u2014 surpassing the assets under management of many regulated community banks, which rigorously adhere to stringent financial safeguards.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>BLMGNF emerged as a key player in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/high-school-football-coach-fired-for-privately-questioning-black-lives-matter-curricula\/\" title=\"High School Football Coach Fired For Privately Questioning Black Lives Matter Curricula\">left-wing social justice<\/a> and defund-the-police movements following the murder of George Floyd, pulling in tens of millions of dollars. The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1363486\/blms-6-million-mansion-a-clear-violation-of-irs-law-watchdog-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>extensively<\/a> on the charity\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1082429\/black-lives-matter-charity-strapped-with-major-legal-and-cash-woes-three-years-after-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>lack of financial transparency<\/a> and ethical problems, prompting state and federal investigations. The charity and its ex-board secretary, Shalomyah Bowers, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/black-lives-matter-leader-accused-siphoning-10-million\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accused in a September 2022 lawsuit<\/a> by a group called BLM Grassroots of fraudulently siphoning off $10 million from supporters, though the lawsuit was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/judge-dismisses-black-lives-matter-grassroots-lawsuit-accusing-blm-global-network-foundation-of-mismanaged-funds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>dismissed<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>BLMGNF co-founder Patrisse Cullors resigned from the group in 2021 after legal scrutiny over her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/officials-charge-sam-bankman-fried-of-using-customer-funds-for-lavish-real-estate-and-large-political-donations\/\" title=\"Officials Charge Sam Bankman-Fried Of Using Customer Funds For \u2018Lavish Real Estate\u2019 And \u2018Large Political Donations\u2019\">lavish real estate purchases<\/a>, including a $6 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/los-angeles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Los Angeles<\/a> mansion where Cullors hosted parties.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Artist Patrisse Cullors poses for a portrait at her studio, Friday, March 24, 2023, in Los Angeles. (AP Photo\/Chris Pizzello)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the newly filed lawsuit, BLMGNF said the Tides Foundation has refused to transfer it millions of dollars that Tides had pledged to turn over. The Tides Foundation, BLMGNF argued in the complaint, engaged in fraud and funneled BLMGNF\u2019s funds elsewhere instead of to a \u201ccollective action fund\u201d intended for BLMGNF.<\/p>\n<p>The Tides Foundation said in a statement that the complaint\u2019s allegations are \u201ccompletely false.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResources in the Black Lives Matter [collective action fund] were never intended to be granted to large, well-funded national organizations like Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, and were always intended to be granted to local Black Lives Matter chapters,\u201d the group said. \u201cBLMGNF\u2019s lawsuit seeks to circumvent the intent of the Fund\u2019s donors and deprive grassroots Black Lives Matter chapters critical resources, for its own benefit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit comes as the Tides Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2695620\/democratic-dark-money-giant-behind-anti-israel-protests-has-scored-81m-in-taxpayer-dollars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>and its affiliates<\/a> come under fire for funding protests across the United States that are hostile to Israel after it was attacked by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7 of last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is an expectation for Black Lives Matter to challenge systems, break barriers and uphold the truth, no matter how uncomfortable,\u201d BLMGNF said in a statement. \u201cToday, that extends into nonprofit operations as we call out Tides Foundation and other so-called \u2018fiscal sponsors\u2019 who exploit their role.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/09\/us-news\/blm-global-network-sues-group-helping-fund-college-protests\/#\"><\/a><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The national Black Lives Matter group alleges in court that a prominent left-wing dark money organization mishandled and withheld $33 million of its funds.
