The House Judiciary Committee is \u2064pursuing\u200b accountability for withheld audio files, as revealed by The Washington Examiner.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_78\">\n<p>Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/merrick-garland\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Merrick Garland\">Merrick Garland<\/a> is set to be held in contempt of Congress by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"House GOP\">House GOP<\/a>, but possible enforcement of the referral could be complicated by who is overseeing the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2992644\/republicans-garland-contempt-audio-biden-hur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reported\">reported<\/a> that the House Judiciary Committee is looking to hold Garland in contempt for failing to provide audio from President Joe Biden\u2019s interview with then-special counsel Robert Hur as part of his investigation into the president\u2019s alleged mishandling of classified documents. The Department of Justice provided redacted transcripts rather than the audio of the interview to the GOP-led committee.<\/p>\n<p>A draft of the contempt report obtained by the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> shows that House Republicans claim Garland has refused to comply with the subpoenas and has hindered the House GOP\u2019s impeachment inquiry in the process.<\/p>\n<p>If House Republicans succeed in holding Garland in contempt of Congress, the criminal referral would be made to the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Washington, D.C., for prosecution.
