Issues with missing \u2063ballot images and double-scanned ballots\u2062 were highlighted.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/randydesoto\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/randydesoto\/%20\"><span>Randy DeSoto<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 9, 2024 at 4:57am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The Georgia Election Board voted Tuesday to reprimand Fulton County for its conduct of the 2020 election and direct the appointment of an independent monitor to oversee this fall\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/georgiarecorder.com\/2024\/05\/07\/georgia-oversight-panel-ruminates-on-2020-election-hiccups-as-2024-showdowns-loom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Georgia Recorder<\/a> reported that the 2-1 vote came after investigators from the Georgia secretary of state\u2019s office confirmed the county double-scanned 3,075 ballots during a statewide recount of the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>There also was a dispute over 17,000 ballot images that are missing, according to a complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators concluded the errors in question would not have changed the overall result of the 2020 election in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat Joe Biden defeated then-President Donald Trump by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/11\/03\/us\/elections\/results-georgia.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11,779 votes<\/a>, or about 0.3 percent of the nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/168000-georgians-moved-right-before-the-midterms-how-many-will-vote-illegally-this-time\/\" title=\"168,000 Georgians Moved Right Before The Midterms. How Many Will Vote Illegally This Time?\">5 million ballots cast<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden carried Fulton County by approximately<a href=\"https:\/\/results.enr.clarityelections.com\/GA\/Fulton\/107292\/web.274956\/#\/summary?v=272998%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 243,000 votes<\/a>, or 73 percent to 26 percent.<\/p>\n<p>During the Election Board meeting, an investigator noted that an independent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/20484973-fulton-county-state-election-board-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">audit<\/a> published in January 2021 and a Performance Review Board <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/forms\/Performance%20Review%20Board%20Report%20on%20Fulton%20County%20Elections%20%281-13-23%29_0%20%28OLD%29.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">review<\/a>, requested by the Georgia lawmakers and released in January 2023, found significant issues in Fulton County\u2019s handling of ballots.<\/p>\n<p>Georgia voter Joe Rossi <a href=\"https:\/\/kdhnews.com\/news\/politics\/georgias-fulton-county-reprimanded-for-double-scanned-ballots-in-2020-recount\/article_920c3b95-61a3-5357-8f28-d55f8f450ae5.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alleged<\/a> in a complaint reviewed by the board that the 2020 election was flawed, both in the machine count to certify the election and the hand recount done afterward.<\/p>\n<p>At Tuesday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/showcase\/8988933?video=928613511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">meeting<\/a>, board member Janice Johnston asked <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/cswartzmcgowan?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charlene McGowan<\/a>, general counsel for the Georgia secretary of state, about the more than 3,000 ballots that were double-scanned during the machine recount.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are you voting for Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe did partially substantiate that we believe that there are duplicate ballot images. Whether or not those were actually included in the tabulated results is inconclusive,\u201d McGowan said.<\/p>\n<p>Board chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/page\/about-state-election-board\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Fervier<\/a> followed up by noting there had been three different counts in Georgia in 2020: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nyc-elections-board-takes-down-mayoral-race-results-after-finding-discrepancy\/\" title=\"NYC Elections Board Takes Down Mayoral Race Results After Finding \u2018Discrepancy\u2019\">election night results<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/election-2020-joe-biden-donald-trump-georgia-elections-4eeea3b24f10de886bcdeab6c26b680a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">machine recount<\/a> results and the results of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2020\/11\/19\/us\/elections\/georgia-recount.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hand recount<\/a> conducted later in November following discrepancies revealed by the machine recounts in some counties.<\/p>\n<p>The hand recount found Biden\u2019s win over Trump to be by about 1,200 fewer votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo if there were duplicate ballots [counted], they would have shown in the hand recount \u2026 Correct?\u201d Fervier asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that\u2019s a reasonable assumption,\u201d McGowan answered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results of the recount were lower, somewhat lower, marginally lower than the originally certified results,\u201d she said. \u201cSo if you had 3,000 ballots that were counted twice, you would expect the results to be larger by that amount.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnston also asked about 17,000 ballots that were counted but not scanned, wondering if the ballots really existed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the paper ballots,\u201d McGowan responded. \u201cThe paper ballots exist. There\u2019s no 17,000 missing ballots. The discrepancy, the 17,000 discrepancy, was because of that scanner error, the programming error in the scanner that got corrected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results were recertified and re-reported and that accounted for the 17,000 difference. There was no missing ballots. \u2026 We have hand-counted every single ballot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnston chose to vote against the motion to simply reprimand Fulton County and appoint a monitor, arguing it did not go far enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith over 140 violations of election laws and rules, it would be a travesty not to refer this to the Attorney General and let this ride,\u201d she said, according to the Georgia Recorder.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">GEORGIA!\ud83d\udea8 Powerful must watch video<br \/> of Georgia State Election Board member Dr. Janice Johnston addressing 2020 election complaints involving fraud, voting machines, and recounts.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Johnston motioned to amend official recount results and called for further investigation. Rick Barron and Ralph Jones, Fulton\u2019s registration chief, must be fired and removed from Fulton\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/georgia-secretary-of-state-wants-two-fulton-county-election-officials-fired\/\" title=\"Georgia Secretary Of State Wants Two Fulton County Election Officials Fired\">elections leadership immediately<\/a>.
