By design. <\/p>\n<p>Contrary to the sentiments of the vast majority of Americans, Biden and congressional Democrats would very much like these \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/biden-admin-new-term-migrants-republican-fury-1874903\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">newcomers<\/a>\u201d to be able to vote \u2014 in November\u2019s election, if possible. At least enough to keep the empty-vessel Democrat who currently occupies the White House for another four years. And they\u2019re not going to let a little thing like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/18\/611\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rule of law<\/a> stand in their way. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-961980280\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-84709491afd3f40129b0b2b2319c2436 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-84709491afd3f40129b0b2b2319c2436\"><\/div>\n<p>Congressional Republicans are looking to check the left\u2019s illegal inclinations. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is currently an unprecedented and a clear and present danger to the integrity of our election system, and that is the threat of noncitizens and illegal aliens voting in our elections,\u201d Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?535480-1\/speaker-johnson-news-conference-voter-eligibility-legislation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> during opening statements Wednesday at a Capitol steps press conference. <\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by lawmakers and election integrity watchdogs, Johnson laid out the case for urgent passage of the newly unveiled <a href=\"https:\/\/roy.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/roy.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/SAVE%20ACT_Bill%20Text.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act,<\/a> aimed at shoring up glaring holes in the 30-year-old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/national-voter-registration-act-1993-nvra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">National Voter Registration Act (NVRA)<\/a> passed during a simpler time, when politicians believed in borders. The bill would amend the 1993 \u201cMotor Voter\u201d law to require individuals to provide proof of citizenship before they are automatically registered to vote at state departments of motor vehicles and other agencies. It also requires states to remove foreign nationals from their voting rolls, something <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/01\/court-affirms-arizonas-need-to-keep-noncitizens-off-voter-rolls-but-makes-it-harder-to-do-so\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">too many state election officials<\/a> have been <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/06\/to-confirm-voters-u-s-citizenship-states-could-easily-check-dmv-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">loath to do<\/a>. The NVRA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cga.ct.gov\/2016\/rpt\/2016-R-0323.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">does not require<\/a> direct proof of citizenship for voter registration. <\/p>\n<p>The speaker said the legislation is direly needed for many reasons, not the least of which is the lack of a mechanism nationwide to \u201censure only those registering or voting are actually citizens.\u201d With the flow of unprecedented numbers of foreign nationals, including untold numbers of illegal aliens from adversarial governments, Johnson said the perils to election integrity are \u201cnot an empty threat or concern.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e37cc92505a15a916e0f961b8357ed84 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e37cc92505a15a916e0f961b8357ed84\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corporate Media: Nothing to See Here<\/h2>\n<p>Corporate media, of course, quickly dismissed the SAVE Act as a sop for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his MAGA \u201celection deniers.\u201d Reporters were champing at the bit to secure the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/speaker-johnson-trump-allies-tried-overturn-2020-election-roll-new-vot-rcna151256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">left\u2019s blood oath<\/a>, whether Johnson \u201caccepts the results of the 2020 election.\u201d\u00a0The generally feckless speaker gave the usual feckless answer about not wanting to \u201crelitigate\u201d the 2020 election. <\/p>\n<p>NBC News\u2019 headline summed up the coverage of the Biden administration media water boys: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/speaker-johnson-trump-allies-tried-overturn-2020-election-roll-new-vot-rcna151256#:~:text=Flanked%20by%20key%20members%20of,is%20already%20illegal%20and%20rare.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump allies who tried to overturn the 2020 election roll out voting \u2018integrity\u2019 bill<\/a>.\u201d The piece spent most of its space going between insisting how \u201crare\u201d it is for foreign nationals to vote in U.S. elections and castigating Trump and respected election integrity advocates for questioning the many irregularities and violations of law that raised understandable doubts about the security of the 2020 presidential election. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-sacred-cause-isnt-democracy-its-power\/\" title=\"Democrats prioritize power over democracy\">accomplice media outlet<\/a> just couldn\u2019t comprehend why lawmakers would want to require proof of citizenship, including a photo ID or birth certificate, documents that, NBC speciously declared, \u201cmillions of Americans do not have access to.\u201d <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018It\u2019s Infuriating\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Joining the speaker were bill authors and sponsors <a href=\"https:\/\/roy.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas<\/a>, and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rule of law is what sets our nation apart. The rule of law is what attracts immigrants to want to come to the United States, yet we\u2019re undermining it every single day,\u201d Roy said. \u201cAnd the most fundamental thing you can do to destroy the rule of law and to destroy our republic is to undermine faith in elections and undermine the integrity of our elections.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e7a53dd098292b1ae052d87b6190c9b5 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-e7a53dd098292b1ae052d87b6190c9b5\"><\/div>\n<p>South Carolina lawmakers recently found out the election integrity shortcomings of the National Voter Registration Act. A spokesman for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scdhhs.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">state\u2019s Department of Health and Human Services<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/07\/south-carolina-agency-the-feds-force-us-to-give-voter-registration-to-foreign-nationals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist that the department, as the state\u2019s Medicaid agency, is mandated to provide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/dcs-election-takeover-is-unconstitutional-and-impractical-leave-it-to-the-states\/\" title=\"DC\u2019s Election Takeover Is Unconstitutional And Impractical \u2013 Leave It To The States\">voter registration information<\/a> under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/crt\/national-voter-registration-act-1993-nvra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Section 7 of the National Voter Registration Act Of 1993<\/a>. The information apparently goes out to everyone applying for the benefits, including foreign nationals. A refugee reported receiving voter registration forms at the Health and Human Services office.<\/p>\n<p>When the refugee sent the documents back to the agency, it sent the foreign national more voter registration information, South Carolina state <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scstatehouse.gov\/member.php?code=1370454381\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rep. Adam Morgan<\/a> told \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/frankspeech.com\/Video\/the-absolute-truth-with-emerald-robinson-joined-by-rep-adam-morgan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just infuriating that the government is actually sending these forms out and literally confusing people who may not be trying to do wrong, or opening the door wide open for somebody to do wrong and get people who are not citizens to vote in the election,\u201d said the chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/scfreedomcaucus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">South Carolina Freedom Caucus<\/a> and a Republican candidate for a U.S. House seat. <\/p>\n<p>But foreign nationals voting in U.S. elections is extremely rare, the fraud deniers declare. Besides, it\u2019s already illegal for noncitizens to cast ballots in U.S. elections. But who\u2019s going to check? Who\u2019s going to hold them accountable? The same Justice Department trying to put Biden\u2019s opponent in prison? <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Democracy Under Attack\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>While Democrats and corporate media rail against basic voter integrity measures, Americans are overwhelmingly opposed to foreign nationals voting in U.S. elections. A <a href=\"https:\/\/tpp-resources.s3.amazonaws.com\/documents\/TPPA-Citizen-Only-Voting-National-Topline.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">poll<\/a> conducted earlier this year by McLaughlin &#038; Associates found that 86 percent of voters believe only U.S. citizens should vote in U.S. elections. Another 87 percent said proof of citizenship should be required to register to vote. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocracy in America is under attack. It\u2019s a multi-faceted attack being waged by Joe Biden and Democrats in Congress,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/aflegal.org\/about\/#leadership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stephen Miller,<\/a> former Trump adviser and president of <a href=\"https:\/\/aflegal.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">America First Legal<\/a>. \u201cWe see that attack in the form of censorship, of conservative speech, the weaponization of law enforcement against peaceful American citizens for having conservative or Christian beliefs, and we see it in the lawfare against President Trump in New York City, in Georgia, in D.C. and in many other places all across this country.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The SAVE Act vote, Miller asserted, is the \u201cmost important vote that most members of Congress will take in their entire careers.\u201d While the bill faces little hope in the Democrat-controlled Senate, Republicans want Democrats on record telling American voters exactly where they stand on foreign nationals voting in U.S. elections. <\/p>\n<p>As of Wednesday evening, the House bill had about <a href=\"https:\/\/roy.house.gov\/media\/press-releases\/rep-roy-leads-fight-save-american-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">50 co-sponsors,<\/a> none of them Democrats. Don\u2019t look for them to be fashionably late.  <\/p>\n<p>Cleta Mitchell, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/whoscounting.us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Election Integrity Network<\/a>, said the National Voter Registration Act was passed at a time when immigration laws were still being enforced. The conservative attorney and Trump adviser, another election integrity watchdog constantly attacked by the jackals in corporate media, said the SAVE Act will fix a key deficiency in the NVRA by criminalizing the act of knowingly registering a noncitizen to vote. <\/p>\n<p>The legislation comes amid the crush of <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/15\/bidenbucks-make-zuckbucks-look-like-chump-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cBidenbucks,\u201d<\/a> the campaign through Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/01\/swing-states-are-using-taxpayer-money-to-turn-out-democrat-leaning-young-voters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Executive Order 14019<\/a> to turn federal agencies into a get-out-the-vote army for the Democrat\u2019s reelection efforts. The fiat commands the federal executive branch to work with state agencies and White House-approved third-party organizations in an unprecedented voter registration drive. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhatever the plan is to try to manipulate this year\u2019s election with illegals voting in our elections, this bill is essential to make sure that we put a stop to that and that we raise citizens\u2019 awareness,\u201d Mitchell said.
