Tim Walz signed into law legislation informally known as the \u201cTaylor Swift bill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The law requires ticket sellers to disclose up front all fees connected with a ticket purchase and bans resellers from selling more than one copy of a ticket, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/taylor-swift-minnesota-ticketmaster-f7dcb061368c5e83c0630cf3e1d2516e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The law only applies to events held in Minnesota, whether for concerts or other events.<\/p>\n<p>The bill was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-swifties-politicized-ticketmaster-fiasco-sees-swift-fans-politically-mobilizing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">brainchild<\/a> of Democratic Rep. There were a lot of people who had difficulty, too. I think the amount of productivity in the U.S. that day with people trying to get tickets while they were at work or school was probably really poor,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Moller said the bill serves a legitimate purpose to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-democratic-senators-taylor-swift-joke-falls-flat-ticketmaster-site-crash-hearing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">protect consumers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you think Taylor Swift has too much influence?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen you select a ticket, you often don\u2019t see those fees until you get to the very end, and then you have two minutes to make a decision and then you\u2019re going to lose your spot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegardless of what kind of tickets you\u2019re trying to get, you as a consumer and all of Minnesota consumers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-lawmaker-on-cuomo-nursing-home-scandal-the-dam-is-breaking-state-and-federal-probes-needed\/\" title=\"U.S. Lawmaker On Cuomo Nursing Home Scandal: \u2018The Dam Is Breaking,\u2019 State And Federal Probes Needed\">deserve transparency<\/a> in that process and fairness in that process, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to achieve,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>As AP noted, the law takes effect Jan. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Adrianna Korich, director of ticketing at First Avenue, a Minneapolis venue, said she backs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-taylor-swift-tickets-breakdown-probed-attorneys-general\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the law<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have all heard the horror stories from the Taylor Swift Eras tour and have seen the astronomical prices that are being charged at checkout,\u201d Korich said.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Whether it\u2019s a Timberwolves game or a Taylor Swift concert, you deserve transparency around pricing when buying tickets online.<\/p>\n<p>I just signed HF 1989 into law \u2013 strengthening consumer protections for fans by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-announces-new-actions-in-crackdown-on-junk-fees\/\" title=\"Biden admin takes action against 'junk fees'.\">banning hidden fees<\/a> and cracking down on fraudulent ticket sales.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Governor Tim Walz (@GovTimWalz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovTimWalz\/status\/1787892244969624001?\">May 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sctimes.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2024\/05\/07\/walz-signs-taylor-swift-inspired-ticket-buyer-protection-bill\/73591819007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Cloud Times<\/a>, \u00a0the bill will require all fees to be posted, which Walz said will make tickets seem to have increased in price, but only because fees consumers never saw until checkout are now visible.<\/p>\n<p>The law bans people from selling tickets they do not have, bars bots from buying tickets and seeks to curb the activities of ticket resale sites.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodtv.com\/news\/grand-rapids\/new-taylor-swift-bills-aim-to-discourage-ticket-buyer-bots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WOOD-TY<\/a>, similar legislation is under consideration in Michigan.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
